Main As announced last week, LoupCitv sent a big booster crowd to the Ord fair last Thursday, some 27 autos being impressed into the service, and carrying nearly a hundred of Loup City’s business men and their wives to the tine little city on the north for the day 's outing. Tiie day opened one of the tinest of autumn kind and by 7 o'clock in the morning the autos and their jolly passengers began get ting together on the bank corners, the autos were numbered and draped with flags and banners and by a little past 8 o'clock they began leaving for the north. Tiie roads as well as the day were of the best and with the ex ception of tiie usual falling out by the way of an occasional horseless carriage, occasioned by punctures, blowouts, chain breaks, and a few other exasperating delays, the party went along swlmminly, being met about five miles from Ord by a half dozen autos and escorted to town and around the principal streets followed by the cheers of the great crowds as sembled on thestreets. A little later all went to the fair grounds, and confess to being surprised at the im mense crowd assembled, there being not less than 8,000 people gathered thereto witness tiie sights of the day. The Fair was itself a revelation to those attending, the display of cereals and all products of the farms being as good as were to be seen at the state fair, while the great pro cession on the grounds of horses, cattle and hogs were as good as might be seen anywhere. After witnessing a number of races, which were very good, the Loup City crowd came home there own motion, tiie return, as the going, being unmarred bv serious accidents and all pleased with having had one of tiie most enjoyable of days. The writer on this occasion made bis first visit to Ord and was well pleased with tiie beautiful place and stm>rised at its beauty, cleanliness and evidence. of business and sut stanial worth but how could it be othenvise with such good papers as the Quiz and Journal to promote the city's best interests. Besides the goodly crowd that went to Ord by autos thfere must have been a hundred of Sherman county's people there also by train and teams swelling Sherman county’s attendance on the fair grounds to nearly 200 persons.
