Race War in Rockville Saturday forenoon and evening several tights took place upon the i streets of Rockville, and that progres sive little city on Monday dispatched its marshal. C. G. Eight of the participants were found guiity and paid tines aggregat ing l *o. and costs amounting to some *.'«> more, the county and school fund being ahead approximately si vis by the transaction. Three of the defend ants were found not guilty, the court finding they had merely been defend , ing themselves from the attack of ; tiie others, and the sheriff could not ; ivK-ate one of tiie offenders, who will j tried a.- soon as he is apprehended. The trouble started between an Ameircanand a Pole in apparently semi-friendly >cuff1e. but soon devel ! oped into a small race war and it is >aid that knives and clubs were seen in the scuffle, though there were no serious wound-,. All parties announc ed to the judge that they had had enough and that so far a.- they were concerned there would be no further trouble. Rockville lias heretofore been a very peaceful and law abiding community and no further trouble is anticipated, but the authorities are determined to take immediate and severe action if there should be a repetition of this trouble.
