Fred Johnson has just completed
two days' work on the cemetery iiiil
with a gang of men. a small part of
which was donation work by a few
teams. It will take two more big
days w ork to tix it so the carrier can
get up it. Will the patrons get to
gether and set a day for work on this
hill. Carrier will give another dav's
work if you will help him. Remem
ber. my horses have toclimb this hill
2ti times a month, or 312 times a vear.
Mr. Johnson would spend more monev
on this hill, but has only enough to
tix the very worst places.'only having
to use on Clay township'roads.
While Webster township spends
*l*Oo each year. Clay township which
is much larger and has some of the
t<est farms in the county onlv spends

more money to work the roads?

ing and only daughter was named
out of respect U> Henry Clay, who
was a warm friend of the Young and
McKinley families, and Mr. Young
one day in recalling an instance in
wjiich the southern statesman be
friended him wnen a mere boy. and
like the knights of old believed grati
tude to be the noblest virtue that
warm' the heart of man. said to bis
wife. "Mama, in case our next child
is a boy. let us name him Henry Clay,"
to which his wife replied. "Young
we will name it Henry Clay whether
it is a boy or not." which resulted in
the daughter being named Henry
Clay Young. "Cncle Troy" and
"Aunty" Hale, as Miss Henry calls
them, have watched tiie daily life of
this girl in caring for her father and
invalid mother for fifteen years, and
have made up their minds that she
is worthy of their warmest friendehip
and have invited her to share their
commodious home at her pleasure.
Robert and Miss Henry desire to
thank all who so kindly assisted
them in caring for their dear mother
during her years of patient suffering.

Friday and returned home Monday.
John Nelson is repapering and re
pairing ids house.
John Hatch is at present working
for S. S Reynolds.
Several from this neighborhood
drove to town Monday evening to
tier Mr. Aldrich's speech.
Jas. Lee is helping on the farm
this week.
The W. C. T. F. contest at Cleoria
church was in every way a success,
the church being crowded W> the
limit. The contestants did well.
The medal was awarded to Miss
Cora Fross. who is the local super
intendent of Medal Contest I»epart
merit. Music was furnished by a
quartette from Loup City. The
young people were invited'back to
Cleoria again.
