While L'Banks Hale was driving'
cattle just west of tiie Hawk school
house last Wednesday, one of the
bunch started on a run and in trying
to round it up L'Rank's horse slipped
and fell, throwing him with full
force to tiie ground on tiie left side
of his head, tiie rim of his hat pro
tecting his iiead from what might
have been a death Wow. At first he
seemed only slightly dazed, and was
quickly in tiie saddle again In a
short time, however, he began feeling
so badlv he was placed in tiie buggy
of Sam Fletcher, who happened along
and soon became unconscious and
brought to town. This was about
.9:30 in the morning and he did not
come to himself rigbtlvtill tiie motor
whistled at 6 o'clock Thursday even
ing. this sound being the first remem
he red by 1dm. He was down town
Friday evening, however, feeling as
well as could be expected. Leaving
ail jokes aside, we will all liave to
give the much-disliked motor credit
for what it did for L'Ranks.
