The St. Paul Republican last week
brought out the candidacy of II. L.
Cook, present deputy state auditor,
to succeed State Auditor Searle in

unwritten law lately in Nebraska for
a deputy state officer to succeed hi,
chief. Suelr is the wish* of the
deputies in the offices of tire land
commissiener. state superintendent
of instruction and tire state auditor
as so far expressed, with the offices ol
governor, state treasurer and attor

son were married Wednesday evening
Jan. 22, 1908, at the home of tin

Richardson, five miles east of Ft
Collins. Rev. W. J. Kidd of the M. E.
church performed the ceremony whiel
united the two lives. The wedding
although a quiet atfair. was a ven
pretty one, the beautiful ring cere
raony being used. At the appointee
hour the bride and groom entered tin
parlor attended by Miss Mabel Tannei
as bridesmaid and Arthur Richardson
brother of the bride, as best man
The bride was beautifully attired ii
white and carried white roses, tin
bridesmaid in cream and carried whit*
carnations. After congratulations tin
guests were seated at a bountiful
dinner prepared by the bride’s moth
er. They were the recipientsof manj
useful and costly presents. One ot
the features of the evening after the
wedding was the "pig trough’’ dance
by the two older brothers of the bride,
it is an old custom that when on*
member of a family is married and
there are others older still single, they
oust pay the penalty by performing
this novel dance, consequently a new
pig trough was brought into the room
ind the boys faithfully performed
their part of the ceremony. Mr. and

prosperous life go-with them. Mrs.
Paige will remain in Larimer county
