Cook, present deputy state auditor, to succeed State Auditor Searle in that office. It seems to obtain as an unwritten law lately in Nebraska for a deputy state officer to succeed hi, chief. Suelr is the wish* of the deputies in the offices of tire land commissiener. state superintendent of instruction and tire state auditor as so far expressed, with the offices ol governor, state treasurer and attor neg general yet to hear from. Hazard Happenings. The ground hog was out all day. Several cases of la grippe are re ported around town. S. C. Thompson of Ansley visited with his brother, II. II. Thompson oi this place a few days last week. .lohn Philpot went to Omaha last Thursday. Deputy sheriff of Custer county was doing business in our burg last week, Mr. Frorts nephew left for Iowa Thursday of last week. The bank report showed $ 12,1X10 in deposits the first of February. Nc money panic at Hazard. The new depot is nearly finished and will be ready for business in a few days. The M. E. social held at Philpot's hall was a success, both socially and financially. $10 being taken in for the benefit of the church. Paige-Richardson. In the presence of about forty ol their relatives and friends, Mr. Chas. M. Paige and Miss Lula M. Richard son were married Wednesday evening Jan. 22, 1908, at the home of tin bride’s parents. Mr. and Mrs. J. W Richardson, five miles east of Ft Collins. Rev. W. J. Kidd of the M. E. church performed the ceremony whiel united the two lives. The wedding although a quiet atfair. was a ven pretty one, the beautiful ring cere raony being used. At the appointee hour the bride and groom entered tin parlor attended by Miss Mabel Tannei as bridesmaid and Arthur Richardson brother of the bride, as best man The bride was beautifully attired ii white and carried white roses, tin bridesmaid in cream and carried whit* carnations. After congratulations tin guests were seated at a bountiful dinner prepared by the bride’s moth er. They were the recipientsof manj useful and costly presents. One ot the features of the evening after the wedding was the "pig trough’’ dance by the two older brothers of the bride, it is an old custom that when on* member of a family is married and there are others older still single, they oust pay the penalty by performing this novel dance, consequently a new pig trough was brought into the room ind the boys faithfully performed their part of the ceremony. Mr. and Airs, Paige have many warm friends whose* best wishes for a long and prosperous life go-with them. Mrs. Paige will remain in Larimer county with her husband, w'hile her parents will move to Montrose county, where Mr. Richardson lias purchased a line ttiO-acre tract of land.—Ft. Collins, (Colo.) TREATMENT FOR SICK HOGS A Fillmore County Farmer Gives Public a Recipe. J. W. Williams, a successful farmer jf Fillmore county, gives the public a recipe for a powder that he claims is 1 mighty good thing to have prepared md feed to your hogs when they be come sick with what Is termed “cholera.” Mr. Williams says this recipe was given him by Prof. Moberly of the Ohio Experimental station. While in the west- investigating agricultural conditions. Prof. Moberly visited Mr. Williams and during that time farm ers over the state were losing liogs uery fast with cholera and lie gave this recipe to Mr. Williams for what he claimed was good for worms. Mr. Williams lias used the remedy for years and found it a good one and now gives it to the public: Worms in Hogs and Chickens. The report for the first semester of school as given last week was altogether wrong.
