The even ing sessions will be occupied with addresses from very pron. .ent men land on Friday night Governor and : Mrs. Sheldon will hold a reception at 11he Governor’s mansion to which every one in attendance is invited. These winter meetings will be attended by more than three thous and of our progressive farmers, and we are glad that such an opportunity i- given fer our farmers to meet with the me 1 who have the most advanced idea- for the advancement of agri culture. The Northwestern appreciates to the fullest extent the interest manifested by the various press bureaus in the editorial columns of the paper by furnishing us with a super-abundance of editorial matter i favoring the candidacy of this and | that- man for the presidency, but really the stulT sent in is proving I somewhat burdensome for our waste I basket and causes us to take valuable ! time in making Irontires for the same. Too bad there is not a market here for refuse paper, or we might gain coin of the realm in the disposal of the same. Rah! it makes one sick over the immense press bureau stuff flooding the C. S. mails. Some little interest was exhibited at the meeting' of the new county board. Tuesday, when the question of entering suit against Gibson for the $l'(iO odd dollars he is alleged to be in default in fees collected when he was county clerk. The old board last week ordered the county attorney to enter suit for the collection of the alleged defaultation. and when the new board met, Gibson's represen tative. Fisher, gave the new board a hotair talk against suit being entered, but the new board refused to alter the decision of the old board and Gibson will be required to answer as \ to the amount accounted for. At the close of tlie point in issue, the board opened the bids for county printing for the coming year, and in spite of tlu? fact that the Northwestern's bid was equally as low as that of the Times, it was ignored in the matter and the county printing was awarded in its entirety, so far as the local award was concerned, to the Times Independent, the Northwestern and the little yellow being thrown over the transom. So far as the North western is concerned, it was not very much surprised, as the board for the most part is populist, while one re publican member was elected by the populists as their candidate by pet ition. another is a brother of the Times man. and still another member from the south side of the county gave evidence of being a pronounced Gilson man. as was also the socialist nember from the east side, hence the Northwestern could hardly expect anything but a good-sized lemon, which was handed him with a pleas ant smile. Hut he always did like lemons. Additional Locals. Hon. E. H. Kittell of Rockville township was in attendanne on the larmers institute. Tuesday, absorbing idle valuable information to be there found.
