County Board of Supervisors met in regular session, as per adjournment of Jan. 9, l>t07. Present: Full lioard; R. II. Matthew, county attorney: and C. F. Wescott, was | on motion ordered returned as same !• was paid under protest. John Kochanowski was allowed 39.00 to amount heretofore allowed on account of the establishment of a road along the s'., of 18-15-13. t The petition of John Miafski and others, praying that a sum of monev (• be set aside by the county board for the purpose of grading a road in the southeast part of Ashton township, | was referred to the road committee. The application of Jacob Winkle | man to enter the Soldiers' and Sailors' i Home, at Grand Island, was allowed. On motion, board ordered clerk to advertise for bids for the erection of a granary and corn crib on the poor farm. Cornelius J. Peters, of Rockville township, was appointed county asses sor by the board, to till vacancy made by the death of Lawrence Peters. The county board selected sixty names from which to select a jury for the April term. The following official bonds were approved by the board: James Car mody, overseer. Hist. No. 38: John Jewell, overseer, Hist- No. 7: M. A. Gilbert, overseer, l>ist. No. 10; A. L. Enderle. treasurer, Webster township: F. A. Pinckney, justice of the peace, Webster township; A. J. Johnson, clerk, Loup City township: and State Journal Co., for printing. The Peterson road was allowed by the board as prayed for, all claimants waiving damages. The Tracy road petition was allowed as prayed for, providing Logan town ; ship pays all claims for damages. On motion, board adjourned to March 6, 1907. C. F. Beushausen, County Clerk. Board met in regular session, as per adjournment of previous day, with full board present, R. H. Matthew, county attorney, and C. F. Beushaus en. clerk. The request of M. II. Mead, county superintendent, to set aside $100.00 for institute fund, was granted. The board ordered $2,500.00 trans ferred from the general fund to the bridge fund. Tiie board allowed the Fisher road as petitioned for, providing Logan township pays all damages. The board confirmed the appoint ment of W. C. Dietericks as deputy assessor for Rockville township, and John de la Motte as deputy assessor for Hazard township. Eugene Vian being twice assessed for the same property, the clerk was ordered to correct same. The petition of E. Dwehus and others, to change the voting place of Rockville township from Hist. >’o. 54 - ----- 1 ■ln 1 1 ■ to Rockville village. ; discussed but no action taken. On motion, board ordi ed that no new bridge be ordered! built where there lias been no bridge heretofore, until the 1907 levy is available. Hoard voted that each supervisor, when be finds that there are bridge; that need repair, shall order bridge contractor to repair same. On motion, board was ordered tc advertise for bids for building bridges, and that fcJa.oo accompany each bid. That boots and overshoes have to be kept in place. That household labor is irksome. That the majority of women have too much to do. That wives grow uninteresting be cause they have no time for reading or society. That there are hundreds of little things that husbands could do to lighten the work of the home. That by so doing both husband and wife would l>e happier. That to find out what these little things are needs but two open eyes and one generous, thoughtful heart. New York Farmer. I>r. The Doctor gave a lecture on t ins subject in Loup City once before, about a year ago. The lecture for Friday. March loth is along new lines. This makes it an interesting subject. Don't fail to hear it. The Doctor comes highly receom tnended and gives as references, such people as Supt. A. O.
