S. senator and a conse quent vote in favor of the adminis tration of President Roosevelt. Vote for Carle McKinnie and the Roosevelt idea. The attacks of the filth generator upon Robert P. Starr are worth just as little as the author of them. Rights minded people will pass them up as they do his attacks upcn the dozen or more prominent citizens of our community. A vote for Robert P. Starr is re cording your prerogative for a good and thorough administration of the county attorney’s office. Mr. Starr is thoroughly competent to attend to the duties of that office, as his ex perience as a successful lawyer attests. The support of a renegade repub lican for our candidate for represen tative should not mitigate against his election. He is not to blame for such support and stands squarely with the loyal republicans of the party and in the legislature will be found advancing the best interests of the people all the time. We had the pleasure on Tuesday evening of meeting Hon. G. L. Shumway, the fusion candidate for congress from this district. He is a very pleasant gentlemen and looks as though he would be an able rep resentative of the fusion twins, should lightning in his direction land him in Moses’ shoes, of which there seems little possibility. Any newspaper war is deplored bv the Northwestern as giving a black eye to the liest interests of Shernian county. The Northwestern had re frained for months from being bro't into it, until the attacks upon the republican party and upon prominent citizens forced tfie issue. If our people also deplore this as we do. we simply raise the query, “Who began the disgraceful work? Who is keep ing it up to the everlasting disgust of right-minded people?” After this, by request of the friends of the Northwestern in their entirity. we shall endeavor to abstain from any notice of or reply to the little fatty degeneration alluded to. but coniine the use of our columns to legitimate news and discussion of matters of interest to our readers. Sunday School Convention. In making the report of the 11th annual Sunday School convention held October 13 and 14, the first thing to be said is that it was a decided suc cess. From the first session on Satur day afternoon to the last session on Sunday evening, the attendance and interest was good. It would, jterhaps, be unjust to pick out any one, or any part of| the program and say that it was the best, as it was all gcod and all seemed to enjoy the meeting. The choirs of all the churches did all they could to make the convention a success and it did ones heart good to see the long rows of singers on the platform. It cannot be said of this convention, as has been said of some i others, that it was run by this orthat denomination, as not a single denomi national feature was noticeable. It was emphatically an association of Christian workers, working in the interest of the Sunday Schools of the state. We think that an advance step has been taken by the churches of the county in this regard, and we hope that it means a closer fellow ship in the future for all the christ tian workers of county. Prof. Steid ley and Miss Mamie Haines were here and as usual had a host of good things to say in their interesting way May their lives long be spared to carry on the good work they are so interested in, is our prayer. The good people of the city "responded freely to the request for entertain ment. I wish that the whole, county could have been present Sunday even ing and taken the trip with" those who were there, to Toronto and got a glimpse of the great World’s Sunday School convention. I think that we would all have gone away with the feeling that the Sunday School work is a work for the young, and in the interest of the old and the young. The county will be apportioned*into districts this year, and district conventions will be’held in each district, and in this wav we will by prepared for a rousing conven tion next year. J. A. Angdek. Your answer will explain why four levers are not used on the Litchfield Spreader instead of one. Why not build your farm wagon eighteen inches higher than it is now built? The answer will tell why we do not build the Litchfield Spreader so you will have to pitch the load over a 4% ft. side instead of over a 3k ft. side. It is because we want to save 20 per cent of muscle. Why not drag your plow back and begin at the. starting point of your furrow after you have plowed once across the field instead of plowing right on around? If you can answer this, you can also tell us why the Litchfield Spreader does not use a return apron. When you are hauling a load on your farm wagon, whv not hitch one horse to the load and the other horse to the wagon, instead of having both horses pull the wagon and the wagon pull the load? We will use your answer to explain why we do not drive the beater wheel of the Litchfield Spreader from one traction wheel and the conveyor from another, or why we do not drive the beater wheel from one point and the convevor from, another. Why not build locomotives with wood, wheels as they did long ago? Why not make the boiler of wood barrel staves? For the same reason that the old-fashioned wood wheels are not used under the Litchfield Spreader. Why not have an unremovable permanent seat on your farm wagon? For the same reason that the Litchfield Spreader uses a swinging seat. Why not use narrow tires on your farm trucks? For the same reason that we do not use them on this machine in place of the widest spreader tires on the market. Why "do you use a sharp knife to cut a loaf of bread? For the opposite reason that we use a dull edge wheel to keep from cutting through the sod. Why dp we expect your order for a Litchfield Spreader? For the same reason that we look for your business covering our entire line- because we have the best and you know it. Watch this space next week. T. M. MEED.
