The basis of representation at said conven tion be one delegate lor each 12 votes cast for the Hon. (’has H. Lei ton. justice of the Su preine Court, at the last general election, and one delegate at large lor each township. The following named townships are, under the said call, entitled to representatiod in said convention as follows: Ashton.5 Oak Creek.2 Bristol. 3 Rockville. 4 Clay. 4 Scott.3 Elm .3 Washington. 5 Harrison.7 Webster.4 Hazard. ... 4 — Logan 3 Total.64 Loup City.17 It :k recommended that the several town ships hold their primaries on the 27th day of Juue. 1600. at the usual voting places in said townships. Dated this 2nd day of June. 1906. By order of Republican County Central Com. Robert P. staku j f. Bkushausen. Secretary. Acting chairman. Announcements. FOR COUNTY ATTORNEY. I hereby announce myself as a candidate for the office «.f county attorney, subject to the ap proval of the Republican County Convention to be held at Loup City. Nebraska. J jne 19U6. Dated this ath day of June. 19U6. R. J Nightingale. To the Voters of Sherman County. Nebraska: i herein announce myself a candidate for the nomination for county Attorney, subject to I the will and wi>h of the Republican County Convention to be held June :»tb. 1HJ6. Robkkt I*. Stake. Tlie republican county convention will be lield in Loup City tomorrow. That convention will select candi-. dates for representative and county attorney and select a delegation to the republican state convention- It is Conceded the delegation to the state convention will lie in the interest of lion. John Wali, and so far as we have knowledge, there will be no opposition whatever to his hav ing sueh delegation. * As to the senatorial situation,we lielieve Messrs. Rosewater, Brown and Curry all have a following in this county, and a delegation favoring either one will hardly be in order, and certainly not as a unit sentiment. There has been no one mentioned so far from any reputable source for representative and tlie convention will undoubtedly make a selection without any pre convention information as to whb wants f»r will take said nomination. Tlie county attorneyship question seems tlie one on which the most interest centers, as we have two we 1 known lawyer.-, announced as desir ing tlie office, and possibly one other in tlie race who is understood as desiring tlie plum. The North western has no advice to offer, is not a would-be dictator, but rattier tielieves in a majority rule, and who ever tlie convention sees tit to honor as its candidates will receive the hearty support of this paper, as well as Uie personal work of its editor. Huring the past weeks, running into months, The Northwestern has received columns of stuff in sup port of this candidate and that candidate, with request to publish same, the articles at times liecoming so eulogistic as to cause a severe strain on the imagination- The preps bureas have been worked assiduously in season and out of season, hut we have refrained from devoting the desjred hundreds of columns to sing the praises of any one, hut, there have been enougli newspaper chumps that have so used their columns, gratui tously t<> benefit the other fellow, as to make it nauseating to the aveiage reader. We are willing that any one should aspire to office, but can see no earthly reason why we should devote column after column, week aftxr we k and month after month to boost would-be governors, state officer, congressmen and this and that man for tiie thousand and ore offices witl - in the gift of the dear people, just for the fun of it. or to please spell an ones and their interested friends, We do not believe the average reader is interested in this kind of stuff, nor even read it when dished up. How ever. after the party names those it desires to place in office, then we be lieve those interested in party suc cess wish to read about their candi dates and the papers are justified in giving all history and information needed to give the average voter an intelligent conception of his party candidates. A fellow coming under the wizard profession, predicts the assassination of President Roosevelt before hip term is out. He also predicts thp election of Bryan pf) thp presidency, We will prediet th&t neither ever.f takes place. The fight between the fripnds of Brown and P.osewater for the U. S, senate may make Frank Curry the aiming favorite in the race, Shettler-Whitman Nuptials. Miss Saidee E. Whitman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Whitman, and Walter M. Shettler of Litchfield, were united in marriage at the home of the bride’s parents, Sunday, June 1", at five o’clock, Rev. Horner of Litch field officiating. The bride was most becomingly gowned in white embroid ered net over taffeta silk and carried a shower bouquet of bride’s roses. Miss Aimee Whitman and Mr. Fred Whitman, sister and brother of the bride, acted as bridesmaid and best man. A large company of ihvited guests had assembled to witness the ceremony which was performed on the lawn. After congratulations had been given and abundant good wishes expressed for the newly wedded pair the guests were seated in the house and a five course luncheon served. The wedding gifts were numerous and exbuisite. Mr. and Mrs. Shettler left immediately for their»new home at Litchfield. Clear Creek Chat The drouth is broken, but not enough rain to insure a erop. Mat Gowin will build in Litchfield and move to town. Misses Nistrum and Jessie Mead are home from York, where they attend ed school last winter. E. H. Allen is enjoying a visit from his sister from South Dakota. A. I). Norling's father is here from Chicago. District No. 25 will have an eight months' term of s^iool. Rockville Items.
