In lovlag remembrance of our darling Sadie, who died Feb. 23d. 1006. Sadie is gone but act forgotten; Never will her memory fade; Sweetest thoughts will ever Unger Round the grave where she Is laid. We loved her. oh: yes we loved her, But the 8avior loved her more, S3 the angels sweetly called her To that bright and happy shore The golden gates were opened. A gentle voice said come. And with farewells uaspokea. She calmy entered home. It ia hard to part with her. Oh. so hard to have her die; But then we will try to meet her Some sweet day, by and by. Oone from her heme, yes forever. Although she wanted to stay, God In his Infinite wisdom Sent hts an gels and took her away. How we watched and prayed for Sadie. And the sorrow no tongue ean tell When the angel of death took her from us; Our darling Sadie we loved so well. Home, is not home, for Sadie is not there, Angels have taken her into their eare ; Dark ia her room, empty is her chair. She has gome to that home so peaceful and fair. —a. o. I never loved a tree or flower. But what was sure to fade and die. Mothbb. Narrow Escape From Death. Julius Polenz was terribly injured and bad an almost miraculous escape from .instant death, Wednesday after noon.' He was working at the bottom of a 70 ft well, and had just filled an iron bucket with wet sand and clay He had given the signal to hoist and the bucket bad been raided to a height of about forty feet when the rope broke. The heavy iron bucket loaded with perhaps one hundred pounds of earth plunged downward. Luckily Mr. Polenz was stooped over with his bead to one side of the well, which probably saved him from instant death As it whs the bucket struck him a glancing blow on the shoulder and the full force of the falling bucket struck him mid way between the hip and knee of bis left leg, breaking both tones like pipe stems, the shattered ends of the bones being forced through the fiesh and protuding as much as three inches. The injury is a very bad one but the wonder is that Mr. Polenz was not killed instantly. The serious nature of bis injuries will lay him up probably for months, but there is but little doubt that he will eventually recover.—The Ravenna News. Sunday School Convention. Put the shoe on the other fwg| and see how it would pinch. Let the lawyers, the bankeis, the irrepressible real estate men, or any other like com bination be formed and these same farmer combiners would raise a howl that would make old-time populism sound like the wail of a lone coyote to a pack of starving timber wolves. Isn’t that true? Let the farmer members stand out and make their fight in the open and win or lose on merit rather than by secret force and compact. The lecture at the opera house Mon day night by Prof. John G. Scorer, on “The Philosophy of Humor,” was by far the best and most instructive enter tainment of the present lecture course Prof Scorer went back into the history of humor, and gave us an intelligent appreciation of the subject matter and food for thought which will be of much value to those of his audience who seek for higher ideals and a keener apprecia tion of the enjoyable in thia old world His lecture was replete with humor, wit, pathos, and thorough knowledge of our better natures, and what he teach es is but the reflex of the sunshine and happy disposition shown tn his counte nance. We had the oleasure of meet ing the gentleman personlly the morn ing following the lecture, and when we learned that he was a practical newspa per man and had for years been en gaged in that work of grace, the m> s tery of his disposition became as clear to us as mud. We are glad to have heard him lecture, pleased to have met [ him and trust he may return at not di> tant period. Sheriffs Sale.
