J. W. BURLEIGH. Ed. and Pub.
Congressman Kinkaid was here
Tuesday looking for cracks in his
political feueeb. lie found none.
Shermao county is ail right, Judge,
lie will be elected dead easy, as the
opposition have placed three or four
candidates against him, not being
able to center on any one.
Judge Wall will have a walk-away
for the senate. The pops nominat
ed a man named Hand of Kearney,
an outspoken Watson man, which
displeased the Parker democrats to
such an extent that they have put
up a man named Patton, of this
county, living down near the Buffa
lo county line, as their candidate,
making a three-cornered tight of it.
Just why or how the Parker fellows
picked out Patton, who is said to be
a pop, and who used to be pop sher
iff of this county, is not known.
The fusion candidate for govern
or, Geo. W. Berge, spoke here Mon
day evening of this week. Mr. Berge
confined his remarks to state affairs
entirely, in an endeavor to show
why he should get there, and want
ed all partisanism abandoned to that
end. We feel that Mr. Berge did
not convince many in the au
dience out to hear him. He was
preceded in a few minutes’ red-hot
populist talk by Mr. Hand, populist
candidate for the state senate.

Balsora Items.
Messrs. Fred Sandh, Alfred Sand
man and Carl Winberg attended the
shooting contest at Loup City.
Everyone enjoyed the rain last
week, except those who had not fin
ished haying.
Alfred Sandman helped Frank
Evans put up hay the first of the
week.
The Balsora school has the most
interesting base ball nine in the
state, I believe. The champion
players may look out for a chal
lenge.

Omaha Bee’s Color Magazine.
For realty genuine enterprise, the
Omaha Bee leads the procession. It
h»s just added new color magazine fea
tures to the Sunday Bee which com
pare favorably with the best New York
and Chicago papers. It is certainly
gratifying to know we have such an en
terprising newspaper in the west, and
it must be equally gratifying to the Bee
to know it is recognized as the only
really metropolitan paper published in
this section. If you have not seen the
new feature, buy a Bee next Sunday.
