PROPOSED CONSTITUTIONAL
AMENDMENT.
The following proposed amendment to, and
convention for the revision of, the Constitution
of the State of Nebraska, as hereinafter set
forth, in full, is submitted to the electors of the
State of Nebraska, to be voted upon at the gen
eral election to be held Tuesday. November 8,
A. D. 1901.
(Senate File No. 114.)
A Bill for a Joint Resolution recommending
to the electors of the state to vote at the next
election of members of the Legislature for or
against a convention to revise, amend and
change the Constitution of the Sate of Ne
braska in accordance with Section 2, Article 15.
of the Constitution of the State of Nebraska.
Be it Resolved bt tub Legislature of
the State or Nebraska:
1. That it is deemed necessary to call a con
vention to revise, amend and change the Con
stitution of the State of Nebraska.
2. That the electors are recommended to
vote at the next election of members of the
Legislature for or against a convention to re
vise, amend and change the Constitution of the
State of Nebraska.
3. That at such next election of members
of the Legislature on the ballot of each elector
voting at such election, shall be printed or
written in such manner that the elector can in
dicate his preference under the law the words:
“FOR calling a convention to revise, amend
and change the Constitution of the State of Ne
braska,” and “AGAINST calling a convention
to revibe, amend and change the Constitution
of the State of Nebraska1'; and if a majority
voting, at said election shall vote tor a conven
tion. the Legislature shall, at its next session,
provide by law for calling the same.
I, Geo. W. Marsh. Secretary of State of the
State of Nebraska, do hereby certify that the
foregoing proposed amendment to the Consti
tution of the State of Nebraska, and provid
ing for a Convention for the revision of said
Constitution of the State of Nebraska, is
a true and correct copy of the original enrolled
bill passed by the Twenty-eighth session of the
Legislature of the State of Nebraska, as it ap
pears from said original bill, on file in my
office, and that said proposed amendment and
revision of the Constitution of the State of Ne
braska is submitted to the qualified voters of
the State of Nebraska, for their adoption or
rejection, at the general election to be held on
Tuesday, the 8th day of November, A. D. 1904.
In testimony whereor, I hereunto set my
hand and affixed the Great Seal of the State of
Nebraska.
Done at Lincoln this 5th day of July, in the
year of our Lord One Thousand Nine Huudred
and Four, of the Independence of the United
States the One Hundred and Twenty Ninth and
of this State the Thirty Eighth.

SUPERVISOR BROWN WINS
W. 0. Brown Renominated for
Supervisor, Third District.
Divide School House, Aug. 29.—
Pursuant to call, the delegates of
the 3rd supervisor district met in
convention at Divide school house
for the purpose of nominating a su
pervisor for said district. The con
vention was called to order by T. €.
Chamberlain, and on motion W.
Hawk was elected chairman and
John Mathewson secretary. On
motion, the chairman appointed S.
McFadden, A. J. Burtner and M. A.
Gilbert a committee on credentials,
who reported the following dele
gates entitled to seats: Clay—John
Mathewson, Jos. Daddow, Conrad
Koch, Stewart McFadden and Hen4
ry Goodwin. Elm—Adam Zahn, H.
J. Burtner and W. E Weller. The
chairman of Webster township fail
ing to appear with the credentials,
the committee recommended that
M. A. Gilbert, Geo. McFadden and
W. Hawk, who were present and
had been elected delegates April 22,
to the convention, represent Web
ter township. Report accepted. The
delegates were instructed to cast the
full vote of their respective delega
tions. On informal ballot for su
pervisor, O. Brown received the
majority of all the votes cast and on
motion the informal ballot was made
formal and W. O. Brown was de
clared the nominee. Committee
men elected: For Clay, John Math
ewson; for Elm,T. C. Chamberlain;
for \\ ebster, Thomas Burton. The
secretary was instructed to send a
report of the convention to the ed
itor of the Loup City Northwest
ern for publication. On motion,
convention adjourned.

Corn is getting out of the way of
the frost.
Emery Bly lost a fine milch cow
from alfalfa.
Anton Topolski is fixing up the
school house.
Ed. Taylor was doing business
here last week
John Fisher is going to thresh
his straw stack over.
Will Kuutzin was working last
week in Schaupp Siding.
Frank Lorcbeck of Loup City is
working at the Keystone yards at
this place.
Mr. Road Boss, look over your
roads. There is danger in leaving
the road in such shape.
There was a street walker thro’
town the other day, but he walked
out soon. Dogs are pretty bad
around here for strangers.
Wm. Cording was visiting Mr.
and Mrs. Bechthold last week. He
has been working in a butcher shop
in Grand Island but gave it up on
account of ill-health.
Divide News
Miss Alta Slocum has been very
sick for a couple of days.
Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Squiers have
had friends visiting them from Au
rora and Comstock the past few
days.
Hecry Rensink has been laid up
with a very painful arm, caused by
getting tco near a wild bronco Sun
day afternoon.
Mrs. George Ellinger returned
home last Tuesday. She was ac
companied by her sister, Mrs. R.
Piper, and family. They came
from York, Neb. Mr. Piper is
looking for a farm to rent. Mrs.
Ellinger’s father is also here looking
for a farm. He wants to buy.
