There will be three days of fine trotting and running races. There will be daily trap shooting events. There will be I three evenings of rich, rare and racy sporting events. There will posi tively be a balloon ascension and parachute lea}) each day, weather per mitting. The management has secured the renowned and most daring apropaut on earth, the celebrated Dan Rice, to give daily ascensions. IJe has the largest hot air balloon in existence and makes his parachute drop from a distance of over a mile from the earth. There will be a base ball game daily between crack clubs; a tennis tournament, and many other at tractions. Business houses have entered into an agreement to close their s'ores each day between the hours of 1:30 and 5:00 p.m. We publish this week in our columns programs of the various events TEACHERS’ INSTITUTE. The Sherman County Teach ers’ Institute will convene at Loup City, Nebraska. August 1st, 1904, at 8:30 o’clock a. m., and^ontinue in session for one. week. All sessions will be held in the High School building. Supt. J. W. Searson of Wahoo, and Supt. R. M. Thomson of Rayenna, will have charge of the work. PLAN QF THE WORK: Special attention will be given to the professional part of teach ing. AH recitations will be con ducted with this end in view. No review work will be dove. Note books will be placed in the hands of every person attending, with a request that they be used for taking notes. A review will be had each day, to find how this request has been complied with. A Beginners Round Table will be conducted by Superinten dent Searson. Examinations will be held on Friday and Saturday, July 29th and 30th, 1904. All who expect to take the examination for this year will please attend at this time. The ShermaD County Eighth Grade graduating exercises will be held on Friday, August 5th, at 1 o'clock p. m., at the opera house in Loup City. The program will consist of an address by Deputy State Supt. J. L. McBrien, talks by the institute instructors- and music. Supt, Searson will deliyer a lecture, at the opera house or Wednesday, August 3rd, at 8 o'clock p. m. No admission fee will be charged for any lectures. We would be pleased to have all who have finished the Eighth Grade work, attend the Graduating exercises and the Institute if possible. We earnestly request mem bers of School Boards and patrons to visit our Institute and attend the Graduating Exer cises.
