Deputy Dubry organized a Loyal Le
gion lodge of some fifty members at
Comstock last Friday. About a dozen
Loup Cityites went along to help con
trol the goat.
J. N. Bayne of the Model restaurant
is rejoicing over the advent of a little
daughter, who made her appearance
on Wednesday morning of last week.
Miss Bayne seems well pleased with the
world so far.
Michael Wiezorek of Ashton was
doing business at the court Itouse, last
Friday, and took occasion to make the
acquaintance of the new editor. Friend
Michael only gets to Loup City about
twice a year, but is always welcome at
these headquarters.
Mrs. Minnie R. Lambert, the popu
lar landlady of the Lambert Hotel, finds
this paper a necessity in all well regu
lated families, hence adds her name
to our list of readers. Mrs Lambert
sets a splendid table and has her house
full of well pleased guests all the time.
Drs. Davis & Farnswortli of Grand
Island, Neb., are prepared to treat all

was occasioned over what men in Loup
City could wear such small affairs.

that we know of.

Owens were spairing for points on that
day when in attempting to parry a side
thrust the back of the captain’s hand ran
across the sharp edge of a sword in the
hands of Postmaster General Owens,
making an ugly cut clear across the
knuckles, The editor enjoyed a good
smoke on promise of not making men
tion of the duel extraordinary.
The Fourth passed off quietly here
-Tenner's beautiful little park caught
the stay-at-homes and a generous per
centage of people from the surrounding
country. Several hundred people gath
ered there, picnicked, made love and
goo-goo eves at each other, danced in
the splendidly floored pavilion, drank
lemoand frozen creamo, missed the
babies, couldn’t hit the bungbole, past
ed the devfl in his swallower, struck at
the coon, worried the racoon and ended
'the day with the medicine .show, and
Tilled in the time till morning with a
dance in Society •hall, a heavy rain pre
venting home-going. Only one disturb
ance occurred during the day. when a
couple of fellows tried to spill a little
bad blood and prove which was the bet
ter animal of the two, brutally. We un
derstand both succeded in making pit
iable spectacles of themselves.

We received a pleasant cail last Fri
day from our friend John Hehenke of
Rockville. John only gets to Loup
City semi-occa3ionally, but when he
does he leaves this paper better of
financially.
The editor of the Arcadia Champion
explains [that what we took for roasts of
people, matters and things through the
columns of his paper w’as simply classic
prose according to bis diagnose That’s
not so slow.
L. >. Beehthold of Schopp'g Siding
began his celebration here the Fourth
by giving the editor fireworks capital t.o
a generous amount, Mr Beehthold has
charge of the elevator at that place and
reports a good business.
Messrs. A. F. Sterzbach and M. Zel
lers, two of the substantial farmers of
south Shermm, were jn Loup City last
Friday, and took occasion to add their
names to our growing list of readers.

Monday night as advertised but have
played to hard luck, heavy rains greet
ing each performance so far. They are
putting up an attractive vaudeville en
tertainment, and good crowds attend
despite the weather. Saturday night
they will put up » big double bill and
give away a large number of presents.

The boys are talking of reorganizing

Editor Todd of the Burwell Tribune
was in Loup City the early part of this
week, the guest of his brother m-law,
Mr. F. M. Henry. We acknowledge a
pleasant call from the gentlemen, Tues
day.
