Loup city is on the up grade and will become one of the principle towns in central Nebraska There i* nothing too good for Loup City and Sherman county. Last Friday County Assessor Peters. John Maiefski and other good ir.juns captured this office and expressed them selves well pleased with the paper. Wednesday evening, March 23rd, at half past seven o'clock there will be scvices in German at the German Evangelical church. All are cordially invited to attend. Frank Lorehiek moved a good sized hern onto the vacant lots south of the T, Hale residence property last week and we are informed that he intends to build a house there in the near future. I)r. J, II. Long vaccinated his first case since coming to Loup City, last Thursday. The act was performed on a portion of Tin. North western, hut it being of the female gender, noswear ing is expected. The photograph gallery just east of the Leininger Lumber company’s yards has been lathed and plastered and thor oughly renovated this week and in the future is to he occupied by Dr. J. II. Long as an office. Hev. G. A Kanz’er called at this office Tuesday and'in talking oyer the small pox scare very pertinently remarked: “Since our houses of worship are closed, let us worship God so much the more In our homes.” Ex-sheriff Ed Snyder moved his fami ly and household goods to their farm in Bristol township the latter part of last week We received an order from Mr. Snyder to continue sending him this great and only at Kavenna. “Doc” Hadchff of Dawson county, is here helping his brother Ed build a story and a half frame house for Mrs. L. D Gardner <>n the lots south of her residence property. She is having the place built for renting purposes. Mrs. Ithoda Davis and son, who has been visiting her brothers. F. Reynolds and family in this city and other rela tives at Sargent for the past month, started for her home at Sioux City, Iowa, via the Union Pacific Monday morning. John Chipps and diaries Brown of Davis Creek were callers at this office Monday Mr. Chipps renewed his sub scription and informed us that lie had j always liked The Northwestern but I lie believed it was better now than it ever had berm. lie has taken the paper for almost twenty vears, so lie ought to1 know. Mrs. S. E. Baillie and son, Alexander, who have been visiting in Buffalo coun ty tortlie past two weeks returned to tlii- city Monday evening accompanied by Frank Tisdale of Pleasanton. They stayed in this city until Wednesday morning visiting with Ceorge E Ben scliotei and family and T. S. Nightin gale and family when they went on to their home at Westerville. Mr. Tisdale intends to work up there this summer. Mr. Paul Sandoz of Cheyenne county, is in the cits this week receiving treat ment of Hr. J. II. Baird and family .who have Iieen spending the winter in San Diego. Cal., returned to this city about two w eeks ago We are informed that he expects to build a line residence on his lots south of the D. D.Grow. Jr., residence. Carsten Truelsen and Itobert Young are at work on Mr Truelsen’s fine new residence this week. The frame work is all up and it is indeed commencing tolookverv much like a house. The masons are at work on the founda tion and the carpenters expect to get to work on it very soon, w hen it will he eomptetep as rapidly as possible. Isaac Vanscoy of Ilayestown and his brother, W. A. Vanscoy of Newton, Iowa, who lias been visiting here the past tnree weeks, were pleasant ea'lers Wednesday. They came in to get ac quainted with the new editor. The ac knowledged him more “burly" by name than frame. W A. Vanscoy will re turn to Iow a in altout a week. Grandpa Grow came to the office on Wednesday as per invitation of last week to get acquainted with the new editor, and we heartily enjoyed his call, lie is a remarkably well preserved old gentleman of eighty-six years and his intellect is as keen and memory as re tentive as in his younger days. lie is a grand specimen of matured manhood. Geo. E. Benschoter returned from Falls City Tuesday, and will move to that town the first of April where lie has purchased an interest in a livery stable with his brother, John Benscho rer. Mr. Benschoter has lived here for many years a large portion of t he time owner of this p per and he and his esti mable w'ite and family will be missed by their host of friends all over Sher man county.
