Hansel came to town last Wedensday morning with six of her thorougn bred chickens to fill an order which she recieved by cable gram from Australia. The cable gram was an order to ship six of these fowls at once and offering $50.00 for them. A newspaper whose columns over flow with advertisements of buisness men, has more influnce in attracting attention to build up a town than any other agency that can be employ ed. Capital and labor go where there is an entertaining community. No power on earth is as strong to build up a town as a paper well patronized and its power should be appreciated. The city school will begin Monday Sept. 14 and the indications are that we will have a larger attendance than we have ever had. G. W. Hunter has charge of the Owen harness shop while Mr. and Mrs Owen is gone to the state fair this w*ek. They left Monday. Stewart and two little sons of Ottawa, Kansas arrived here last Tuesday to visit her sister Mrs. W. L. Marcy. Her coming was a pleasant surprise to Mrs. Marcy. Geo. Ware came up from St Paul Saturday evening and wa3 on the stieet shaking hands with his old time fiends. He want out to Oak creak to visit his daughter, Mrs John Fisher. W. T. Owen G. H. Gibson A. Wall and Geo. E. Benschotcr went to Grand Island last Monday to attend the l2th Judical district convention. They returned Tuesday &nd report the nomination of B. O. Hostetler of Kearney forjudge of this district. Dr. A. B. Stiles Dentist Mangr. Nebr. State Dental Co. will begin a series ofvisits to Loup City, begin ning Monday, Sept. 14 th and staying until Saturday, Sept. 20th. These visits will be made every two months indefinitely. Office at the hotel. Robert Mathew is spending his vacation at home and is employing his spare time in drawing, on a large seal®, a complete map of Sherman County for use in his father’s office. Robert is a young man of more than ordinary ability fore oDe at his age. and his work on this map is a ma»t®r piece and shows what a young man with energy and perseverance can accomplish when he sets about it with a determined effort to succeed. We understand that he is soon to resume his studies again at the University at Lincoln. While Mrs. J. N. Fisher was re turning to her home last Tuesday afternoon from Loup City the teem became unmanagable and she was seriously hurt. She had driven to Loup City to bring her father Geo. Ware to take the noon train for his home at St Paul and after doing some trading started for home. The horses were a spirited span of blacks. But it was stated that she arrived home safe, drove into the yard and alighted from the carriage. The men were in the field at work and she unhitched some of the traces when the head strong animals start ed for the watering trough. She was knocked down and the vehicle, in some way struck or passed over her injuring her back and otherwise hurting her. The team in the ex citement ran away and did a great deal of damage to the carriage. Mrs. Fisher lay uneoncious for some time and was found towards evening by a lady neighbor, Mrs. Graaeh. It was several hours be fore she gained conciousness suffici ent to tell how the accident happen ed and it was at first feared that she would not recover, thers being ev idence of internal injuries sustained. However lier physician has, at this writing, hopes of her recovery. Her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Ware, at St. Paul were notified by telephone and came up on the noon train Wednesday. A later report as we go to press slates that Mrs. Fisher is resting easier and is much better. Marriage Record. A double wedding was performed . t the home of Mrs. U J, Wilson in Washington twp., in which her son J. W. Wilson and Ida Bellinger, and her daughter Miss, Julia Wilson and Herman Ilehenke were the contract ing parties. The ceremonies were per formed by Judge Angier at the Wilson home, Saturday, Sept. 5, 1903. After the ceremony dinner was served and the bridal party was treated to all the good things which the market affords. There were many nice presents pres ented to the brides and grooms, who are much esteemed by all who know them, Mr. Jacob Biemond and Miss Carrie l’aulsen were married at the home of J. T. Ilale at high noon, September (itta 1903. These parties are both well known in Sherman county, having lived here for a good many years. They have a large number of friends w ho give there best wishes as they start ou lifes journey togather. After the cer emony the guests were Invited to the dining room where a dinner was served and such, as* only those who have been the recipients of Mrs. Hale's bounty can imagine. Judge Angier performed the marriage cere mony. September 7th., Mr. Emil. Macek of Buffalo County, and Miss. Verna. Novy of Sherman county were milted in marriage l>y the county judge at his office in Loup City. Miss. Novy is known to many here, as she was born in this county, and is well liked by all who know her. On September 8th. Mr. Claus Eggers ami Miss Tillie Kornrumpli were united in marriage byj. A.
