We, the Republicans of Sherman county, Nebraska, in convention assem bled, re-attlrm the principles of the re publican party as laid down in the National platform of 11*00, and renew our allegiance thereto The National administration has been one that every Republican can point to with justifiable pride. The eonduct of the brave and fearless Roosevelt, in securing trust legislation, and insisting that such legislation he enforced, has demonstrated the sincer ityoftlie Republican party in its at titude to trusts We point with special satisfaction and pleasure to the attitude of our party on the trust question, be cause It Is such a marked contrast to that of the Democratic party, who have been parading it in their platforms, and making demogoglc appeals to the people, while in fact they have never enacted any anti-trust law, or taken any stop to enforce any such laws as aro al ready in existence We desire to express our admiration of the patient conduct of the President in respeet to the relation between Cap ital and Labor. He has used the in fluence of his great office to bring a bout a permanent condition of harmony between Capital and Labor, and to com pel both sides to submit their demands to the principle of arbitration instead of resorting to industrial warfare, and this at a critical time, when action, not promises and theory, were needed. lie lias shown a juit and proper regard for the rights af property, combined with a spirit of humanity and a regard lor the laboring classes. In this be has shown himself a conspicious example of Rep ublican principle, which have always favored the rights of labor, and at the same time have had due respect fur the rights of property. The public life of President Roos evelt, like that of his private life, rests upon the everlasting principles of hon esty and integrity, the only sure and certain suport for the Government, good seeiety, good morals and good man. These principles of his heroic virtues have contributed more to the detection and destruction of the dis honest practices of Trusts and Com bines, than all the statutes ever penned by legislative bodies. The unparellcd commercial prosperity of the Nation is due to the security and safety inspired into business by this unswerving loyalty to the rights and privileges of (he people, irrespective of their politics station or color. We also point with pride to the ac tion of the President and bis Cabinet, to delinquencies in the Post Office de partment, which demonstrates the fact that the Republican party has the hon esty and courage to punish official wrong doing regardless of polities Jn view of the excellent Adminis tration of Presidential all airs and of the great benefit and good our Nation has derived through the honesty, cour age and patrotism of him who was called to the Nations head by a tragedy, we urge the republican* of Shermau County to use all honest and honorable effort to secure the nomination of President Theodore Roosevelt, in li>04. We commend the 2Kb. session of the legislature of our State and congrat ulate the Republican Party upon the fact that among the many good laws passed for the benefit of the fanner whereby the Railroad Companies are competed to furnish equal facilities to the farmer to ship bis grain as are giv cn to the Klevator^Trusts. also for en acting a just and equitable system of taxation, whereby the Corporations are compelled to bear their share of the burden of State Government. We congratulate the Republicans of Sherman County on having been repre sented in the Scnato by a strong and eloquent defender of the rights and in terests of the people, in Senator Aaron Wall. We desire to extend the hand of fel j lowship to those Demoerates and Pop ulists, who, compelled by patrotie motives have recently joined the re publican ranks. Respectfully submit ted. i Geo. K. Benschotsr, Committee. 1 11 Bmelser, f Wm. Strankmann, Dwindling Away We note that the old time enthus iasm of the populist war horse of by gone days have somewhat dwind led in both county and township as far as the east side of the county is concerned. The Ashton township primary Saturday did not seem to go with the old time vigor. But by a good deal of persuasion among the few present A township ticket was finally put up and a delegation was sent to county convention pledged so as to hold what remnants was left of the fast decaying east side end of the fort.
