The following is what the Quiz hai to say about the game played at tba place last week by the Loup Citj j team and the Ord nine: It was i j closely contested game and the Ore boys only wone by a stratoh. Oui boys whitewashing them seven innings in succession The Quiz says: The bad taste that a skin game ol ball leaves in the month of a Collins patron of the sport was pretty well removed by the very gen tie "warily and honorable game otir boys had with the gentlemen from Loup City. This game was played on the Ord base ha 11 grounds Tuesday afternoon Big husky ball players and fli e fellows id all respects they came to Ord, put up a fine game cf ball and came very close to getting the honors of victory. Their own man umpired and did an honest job of it. The chances are that they would have won but for a few bad throws to first which proved costly to them, giving Ord a few runs that we would otherwise not have had. The visitors got In two runs by good batting and fine work in the second inning and added another tally in the seventh. Ord got uothing but blanks till the seventh when they made two runs and in the eight got the score that made it a tie. In the ninth the vis iters got one man on the way around the diamond and it looked for a while as if be would score, but before he did so good work on the part of the Ord nine left him on the third. With the game a tie so far the Ord took up the willows, needing only one run to win the game. Every body hit the sphere now and it was not long till the buses were full. On a forsed ruu two of these were put out but in a jumble made bv a bad throw to first Lewin scored and the game was won. Never a finer lot of boys came to Ord to play ball thao the fellows from Loup City. May they have better luck hereafter.—Ord Quiz. teachers assemble The teachers institute for Sher man county started up at the High School building last Monday morn ing and Superintendent 11 D. One day he got desperate and went to Henry French and ask him why he did not move out aDd let him have the house, i Mr. French replied that he would if lie, Starr, would secure him a good job in Lincoln. Mr. Starr then told him that if he would write to the State Journal Oo. at Lincoln he Would un Joubti d ly get a position, whereupon Mr. French wrote and by return mail re ceived a reply to the effect that a position was open for him. Mr. Starr was at once informed ol the result of this communication aDd at once started out to secure a lease of the residence property in question. Ho went to the agent and from him learned that Mr. Cha». Conbiser has had an option on it for several months past, and in case it is vacated by Mr. French he, Con | hiser, was to take possession. It has Deen suggesieu to iur. starr that the joke was on him, but the active attorney regarded it more as ; a tragidy than a joke as his wife | and baby has returned to Aurora (again to give Robert further time to secure a dwelling.
