Miss Daisy Heglin was in the buggy with Mr. Hammond ut the time but fortu nately both escaped without serious injury. The horses were caught Ht J. T. Word reached the Draper boys here a few- days ago informing them of the serious illness of their father. W. T, Draper, who is now visiting his daugh ter in Iowa. The Douglas shoes are better and finer this spring than ever. Our shoe maker, Swanson has just received a good assortment of them and would be pleased to show them to you. The township board sat as a board of equalization last Tuesday and Wednes day. There were several who thought that the valuation on property was to high but only three complaints tiled. The graduating class went to Rock ville last Wednesday with photographer, A. Boone and had their picture taken. They were accompanied by Clarence Sweet laud, Miss Ilenry Young, Art. For nearly two weeks wo have had almost a continuous down pour of raiu, and the roads arc in a frightful condi tion, for this country, at least, although, from all reports, they ar« not near so bad as those of eastern states. Even though they are about as bad as they can get. yet the people can get about with loads when necessary. This ofliee acknowledges a pleasant call from Marvin Lee last Tuesday afternoon. Marvin is one of the Loup City high school graduates of the class of, 1003. lie was the only boy in the class and is a bright young student. His sister Miss Edna is also a graduate and won the scholar ship for which she has worked hard all the year. It is reported that a pretty wedding took place at the home of Mr. aod Mis. X. L. Talbot of Boelua last Wednesday evening when their daughter Florence and Mr. Alonso Daddow were united in marriage. Both contracting parties are well known to a large circle of friends here. j Mr. Daddow is the son of Samuel Dad- j dow of Clay Township, thi3 county He is now one of the enterprising merchants of Boelus. The bride is also well known, having lived with her j parents in this county for many years. She is an accomplished lady and has for a number of years followed the oc cupation of school teaching. They start out in life with the best wishes of all. Elected Tho Teachers. At a meeting of the school board for District No. 1 Loup City High School, the teachers were hired for the insuing year and by unanimous vote all of the outgoing teachers were re-elected for their respective departments as follows: M. H. Mead, principal; J. F. Xicoson, forgrammer department; Miss Minnie Hickman, intermediate; Miss Xettie Conger, primary and Miss Henry Young, second primary. It was evident that each member of the board had for some time passed, become fully determined to -upport the present teachers wThen it came time to again fill these all important position'. They have all labored unceasingly to opperate the ichools in a commendable and praiseworthy manner and have succeeded to the full satisfaction of the board ami to the patrons in general, and deserve tho indorsement which they received.
