Ira Forter is down from Arcadia and
is woiklngat his old stand at the Key
St me Lumber yard. He will only stay
a couple of weeks.
Odendahl Bros. have rented the store
buildiog just vacated by O W. Peterson
and is making a fine display of their
holiday goods therein.

Mr. and Mra. F. M. Henry, who have

J. I. Depew seems to be a big re
lief to the carpenters and wood work
ers of the town. With his engine and
circular saw stand be is able to shape
wood into any design desired. He has
dona considerable sawing for the
Conblser brick store buildings.
J. I. Depew, our all around black
smith and wood worker is assisting
Walter Smith with the carpenter work
on the Conblser store building. And
while we are speaking about it you
should call and see the artistic job that
Smith Is doing. It is a credit to him
and to the trade.
Fred Boek, living north of town
In Logan twp. brought two fat bogs to
market Monday for which be realized
#36.00. Last week be took a load to Ar
cadia and realized the haadaome sum
of (84.00. Only last week he purchased
another eighty acres of land ad joining
bis hundred and sixty on the east and
was able to make a handsome payment
on it. Mr. Boek has raised a good crop
and now is feeding and fatenlng ten
bead of steers this winter.
Appropriate Thanksgiving services
were held at the M. E Church last even
ing.
Several thousand bushels of soft corn
has been marketed at the aew feed
yards.

J. □. Travis has closed oet his bust
■ess and will now devote himself to
oolleotlng up his accounts. He has not
yet determined what he will do in the
future. Mrs. Travis who has sold her
residence property has gone with her
daughter, Nellie to Lincoln, where
they will live for two years at least
while Miss Mellie continues her music
studies.

prise on Monday evening. The
guests were entertained with ping
pong and ether games. After re
freshments had been served, music

Milo Gilbert of Webster township
met with a very severe accldeat on Wed
nesday of last week, by falling from a
corn crib. He bad olimed to the top
to fix some boards' when his footing
gsve way. He fell, striking oaths com
er of the wagon box and bryakipg two
ribs loose from the back bone and badly
fracturing s third. It f«s jreatly
feared at first (hat his injuries would
prove fatsl. Dr Main was summoned
and the wounds properly dressed. He
says that although the injuries ere of a
very serious nature he will get along all
right if uotbing else eats la.
I Mrs. M. H- Mead died at her
home at 11 o'clock last Tuesday
night after a very painful illness of
about 3 weeks duration. Her death
was very sudden and unexpected as
it was thought by her relatives and
friends that she was slowly improv
ing up to within a very short m e
of her demise. She leaves a bus
band and four children to mourn her
loss, the youngest, a boy of about
three years. The funeral will take
place at the Mead residence to day
(Friday), at 10 o’clock a. m. We
will give a more extended notice
of the death of this much beloved
lady in our next issue.

day afternoon Mr. Johnson preached a sermon
to a small congregation. They left for their
home Monday morning.
Work was started Monday morning on the
much talked of and delayed addition to the
school house.
C. H. Tully of Grand Island was in town
Tuesday evening looking after some fence bus

A child of Mrs. Geo. T. Benson when
getting his usual Saterday evening bath
stepped back against a hot stove which
burned him severely. The child was in
great agony and his mother could do
