The Times man cut himself loose last week for the benefit? of ye ju nior editor all of which was uncalled for, nnmanley and should be beneath the dighity of a reform (?) editor or his advisors. We, us, ourselves, G. II Gibson, have climbed higher m the scales of common manhood, and had hoped that all newspaper men in Sherman county had, there fore feel deep regret that the only professing Christian editor in the county should so far forget himself as to attempt an uncalled for and unjustifiable injury to one who bad sought only his benefit and to do so effectually, so, that the one besought to injure could not answer it until after election if be so desired, took particular pains to inform the se nior editor of this paper that he was Ik delaying his paper (when it should come out 24 hours ahead of this one) for the purpose of getting a sup plement from Lincoln, and did not know how soon he could mail his paper, yet the fa^ts were, his paper was ready to mail and only waited the time the Northwestern went to the post office, when in a very tew moments his paper followed. It is supposed that our Christian friend received the inspiration for this hypocracy from the story of Judas, and we dare say, had nothing in view except the thirty pieces of sil ver, or more. Now dear brother, let us sit down and commune to gether for a few moments. Of course you did not expect these facts to go out to the people whom you have been feeding on -‘reform” for so many7 years, but when they do become acquainted with the little low down scheme you must father, do you think they will hold you up as a model of honor? Then they will know that you never would glove your hand for an unfair ad vantage of a man whom you pro fessed friendship with, Czolgosz like, nor deceive your readers, for you have proved it by your Judas kiss in this case. Your center col umn was good. Certainly we wrote the greater part of it and still stand by it as the only true principles of manhood, but are sorry that you still persist in misconstruing our supposed affection for Mr. Bryan, as we did not mean it as you desire. And now we hope, brother Brown etc., that God will hear your praves and forgive you your imended(?) kindness, and if ever satan entice thee again, remember that the golden rule is a good one for us al! to live bv, and especially the professed Christian. Now if our syntax do not meet with you’- approval in this article, we will change it, and if our orthography >s a little faulty, while you are scratching the mote out of our eyes don’t neglect your own peepers. Ta Ta. To the Republicans of Sherman county we extend ourJ-JP. To the Populists who helped us so grandly we extend J-j|P fciP and to the Dem ocrats who stood by us Hkc Trojans. v we can but say take us all aud, and, —come and have something. Now say Bro. Brown, how is it about that ticket that the republi cans winked at when they nominat ed it- Which eye did they wink with. The state of Nebraska is safely in the republican column by a plurality of 10,000, an increase of 7,000 ovei that of last year. Out of 4ti counties thus far reported 35 of them have gone republican, even Custer. The combined democratic majorities in Valley Sherman and Howard counties was only 301, which is less than the old time demo-pop dm jority in Sherman alone. The county vote is counted for the fusionist state ticket by a majority of only 119 as against 350 four years ago and in 1N96 for Bryan of over 400. We only lacked hve votes of electing two out of three supervisors which plainly shows! which way the tide ts turning and what we might expect to do after another year of Republican pros perity. _ The returns show the vote of this county to be as follows.
