Young were up from St. Paul visiting friends last week Mrs. Detlif Peterson went to IVashta, la., the first of the week to visit her sister. Geo. Ware jr always keeps ‘Sun Dance In the lead. Geo. Isa success as a rider. E,G. Paige and Geo. Chapman were among the visitors at the tournament Saturday. A number of friends of T. H. Eisner are here from Grand Island on a hunt ing trip. Rev. Madely left Monday morning for North Platte, to attend the M. E. conference. Rev. A. L. Zimmerman and two friends from Marquette, were in the city Monday. Thegate receipts at the fair grounds during the tournament, Woodmen day, were |183.00 C. L. Drake put down a substantial side walk in front of his hotel property while he was here. The Woodmen dance was a howling success The big tent is just the tiling for bowery dances. J. S. Charlton of Ord, came over Thursday and took in the tournament and visited friends, return ing Sunday. Mrs. Ernie Rentfrow went to St. Paul Wednesday morning returning in the evening. She went down to bring her little daughter home. A letter from Mrs. L. E. Walworth directs her paper to be sent to Delta, N. Y. for tne present, She states that ■he will visit Loup City shortly. The Ladies Aid Society will meet at the home of Mrs. Outhouse, next Wed nesday afternoon, at 2:00 p. m. Each member is asked to try and be present. A tent belonging to one of the tran sient horse men attending the tourna ment, caught tire last Saturday morn ing and burned about half up before it was noticed. Mr. Shrove and Jerry thinks some of locating there also. The mercantile firm of Neilson and Isaacson of Rockville, ordered their Dime on our roll of honor this week This is one of the heaviest firms in Sherma i county. Zink is on the Loup City stock market. Look him up. W. T. Chase came pretty near having a lamp explosion at his store the other night. Henry Bushousen of the south side was in the city Thursday. Hank is as jolly as ever. W. D. French, W G. McNulty and Jay Cole are bailing hay for Milo Gil bert this week. Hons. P. W. Round and J. W, Lan ders with their ladies were in atten dance at the tournament last week. Mrs. W. A. Wilson, of Oak Creek, visited in the city last Thursday and Friday, with Mrs. E. E. Beaschoter. A Sacred concert will be given by the choir at the M. E. church next Sun day evening Everybody Invited. Street fakers were plenty during the tournament but they failed to make it pay, which speaks volumus for our peo ple. Eddy B. Dunlap moved bis family to town Thursday. He occupies the ten ement of Judge Wall in the west side of town. Dr. and Mrs. Marcy entertained a few friends at dinner on Wednesday evening in honor of baby Charles' first birthday. The base ball part of the tournament was a significant feature, and was the best all around ball Sherman county has saw for a long time The Oblsen Bros, have the brick work of J. 1. Depew's blacksmith and wagon shop nearly ready for the roof It is a grand structure. Geo. McFadden went to Boelus Tues day and brought back a bunch of cat tle which be purchased from the Fletcher brothers. There has been more rainfall here this fall than has been known during any fall in the memory of the oldest inhabitants, and the prospects tor next spring are flattering. Misses Jenny and Fanny Sutton came down from their home in Valley Co and spent last week visiting their sisters and viewing the tournament. The horse racing during the three days of the tournament was superb. Every one was “to the fastest” and lit tle “Sun Dance,” G. C. Bowman's maro, scooped them all. Frank Dennis has taken charge of the Hour and feed business in this city for the Arcadia Milling Co , and has estab lished a store in the building east of the St. Elmo hotel. The Hawaiian woman’s club at Hono lula,debated the question: “Is it bet ter to take Rocky Mountain Tea hot or cold?” Either way it magnifies your pleasure. Ask your druggist Mrs. John Lofbolm sent a stock of pea nuts to this office for inspection last Saturday that was qnlte a curiosity for Sherman county. It was hanging full of well developed nuts. Their work was very fine and showed that great care and careful practicing will win the prize every time. Isaacson drove to Ashton Thursday morning on business. Rockville sent a large delegation to the tournament at Loup City Thursday. The home team of Woodmen carried oil the silver (?) urn. Mrs Euburg of Laramie, Wyo. arrived Thursday evening for a vis it with her father, J. P. Jensen. Prof. J. R. Stepbensen railed it to Grand Island and back Saturday. Geo. Gibson of Loup City was a pleasant caller Tuesday. We understand that Ira Pugh in tends to move his family onto a fairn ten miles west of Loup City in the near future. Well, ‘“Topsy Bell” is gone, so now the rase horses aro allowed to visit this burg without being in dan ger of getting skinned.’ She was a ‘goer’ and we mourn her loss. Will Fletcher of Boelus is her present owner. Master Rene Fair met with an ac cident Tuesday which, luckily did not prove serious. While playing near a lime pit he slipped and fell into the hot mass, but help was at hand and he was speedily extricated from his dangerous position. W Sshrader of Archer was regis tered at the hotel Tuesday night. Peter Rowe of Loup City was here the fore part of this week mak ing some repairs to W. M. Smelser's residence. Johnny Lucks arrived home from Grand Island where he has been spending the summer. A. B. Fletcher left Wednesday morning with a bunch of eattle bound for Arcadia. The musical eutertainment given Monday night at the hall was well attended and all came away pleased. Janies DeMarranville of Ravenna, was in town Tuesday cn business. S. A.
