Perry Belmont says Bryan and Croker mu9t he got rid of if democ racy would thrive. Let ’em stay, the darn things’ dead any how. The Boers are making a determin ed tight for their independence and the civilized world hopes that Eng land will soon be forced to recog nize it. The Republican Stale Convention has been called f<>r August L'8, at Lincoln, The representation in the convention will number 1,300. Sher man eouuty is entitled to six dele gates. The editor of the St. Caul Repub lican seems to hue to the line regard less of where the chips fall. Mr. Perkins is a young man with con victions of his own and back bone enough to express them. The southern states are objecting to the tariff as an issue for the next democratic campaign. They begin to rea'ize thebeuefitof the protective system on their growiug industries. ‘•The country will probably have many presidents," says a contempo rary, ‘-before it has another as good as Grover Cleveland. 11 is adminis tration was superb.” So it was with the accent on the soup.—Kansas City fournal. Whereas: Certaiu rumors are cur rent in Valley and Sberman counties iu regard to the killing of one Frank Landa in Sherman county, in the year 1894, which tend to connect Frank Manchester and David Ing raham with the commission of the crime, and Whereas: These rumors have been traced back to their origin, and are found to spring out of a conversation bad between Mrs. Aleck Smith and myself, and Whereas: Mrs. Smith evidently misunderstood what was said by me; Therefore: In order to remove any possible injury to the good name of David Ingraham and Frank Man chester, I wish to state that I have no knowledge of any facts which would in any manner tend to impli cate either ot the above named per sons in the commission of said crime; and that such rumors are without foundation and wholly imjust, and 1 hope that no one will give any cre dence to them. And I desire that this statement of mine may be given the utmost publicity so as to remove any cloud that may overshadow the reputation or character of eitbei David Ingraham or Frank Manches ter, and cause pain to their relatives and friends by reason of sucb un just suspicions and aspersions as the above rumors have a tendency to create.
