Mr, Fair informs us that he has added another quarter section of land to his Sherman county possessions, adjoining his other land near Rockville. Joseph McCoy returned from Okla homa Saturday night where he went with his son Eddy a few weeks ago. Eddy procured a situation as book keep er and will remain in the south, and Mr. McCoy will return tnere as soon as he can make arrangements to do so. Little Silas Clark was again taken to the hospital last Monday for treatment. This Is the second operation be has un dergone this year for necrosis of the bone. His right arm was operated on early in the year and was cured but was left stiff at the elbow joint, and during the past month his left one has become effected in the same manner necessitat ing a second operation. There has been more or less criticism of the board of trustees for not forcing property own ers to repair their walks It is an easy matter to criticise and find fault, but if must be born in mind that to compil this generally entails considerable ex pense on the village, as the repairing must be paid for out of the gtieet fund and then levied against the property and collected as a special tax, ami the outcome generally is a law suit, and if a technicality can be scared up 'they are very liable to defeat the collection of the tax and the city foots the bill ami the individual laughs in his sleeve, fto a conservative board is not much in clined to take these risks. The board of health was also instructed to compel] every physician to report every case as soon as it comes to his know ledge.
