NORTH LOUP, Neb.. Dec. 10.—The cattle dianase is working sad havoc in this section of the country. Far mers and feeders report the loss of from three to twenty or more out o? their herds, it is also reported that forty-five hides per week have been brought into Ord for several weks, ail taken from cattle that died in stalk fields. PLATTSMOUTH, Neb., Dec. 10.— Charles Antone. one of PlattBmouth' old citizens, went home about i o’clock and shot himself through the left shoulder, rtis wife says he in tended to shoot her and their child. He was under the influence of liquor. He may recover unless blood poison sets in. May Loie fCiitlr** Arm. CALLAWAY, Neb., Dec. 10.—Post master J. J. Douglass, who has been seriously ill from the effects of an op eration that was performed on him when fifteen years old, at which tint.! a portion of the bone between the el bow and the shoulder was removed, was again operated on and as a re sult is resting much easier, though somewhat weak from the loss of blood and the effects of the chloroform. The arm was cat open and the dead part of the bone removed, but as the diseased part is so near the shoulder joint it is feared that sooner or later the arm will have to he amputated at the shoulder. One man of every 203 is more than six feet tall. C« CM Building mid Loan Aftpociatlon. LINCOLN, Dec. 10— Dr. P. L. Hall, secretary of the State Banking Board, has completed his report of the Ne braska building and loan associations. The appended summary, taken from the report, shows in tabular frjrm the remarkable growth of this class of institutions, it takes the associations from the first year that authentic re ports were made down to the present year, which period includes 1K92, re membered'for its expanded credits and wild speculations, and embraces i.*e years 1893, 1894 and 1895, which were marked by panic, drouth and destruc tion of values, and the years 1896 to 19t)0, inclusive, which have been years of reaction and restoration of values. WtftAliiriiftnn County Bond Cane. BLAIR. Neb.. Dec. 10.—1The boaru of supervisors held a special meeting to take action concerning the S. C. & P. bonds against Washington county. Many petitions were on file, many asking that the county compromise and settle for the bonds, while others asked to appeal. After much discus sion a motion was carried to appeal the case from the decision rendered last week in Omaha. This bond ques tlon has been before the people a long time and the general opinion is that it should be settled in some way. S#*roiid Cull for Miiyoro. FREMONT, Neb., Dec. 10.—Mayor Vaughan has called a meeting of the mayors of Kearney, Hastings, Grand Island, Beatrice and Nebraska City, to take place *'i Fremont December 13. when a second attempt will he made to frame an incorporation act for cit ies of this class. The first attempt was made some weeks ago, when a meeting was held at the Lindell hotel, in Lincoln. Owing to the small at tendance at that time nothing was accomplished and the representatives from the different places adjourned sine die.
