Snyder of this city, departed this life on last Thursday, March l*t 1900 at 11:43 a. m. Mrs. Snyder was one of our early settlers having moved to this county in 1S?9. and located with her family 9 miles south of Loup City, and named the place Wrdurette They built up a beautiful home and surround ed it w ith many comforts of life. She was a laiy whose life grandly portrays the maxim of the grant Gladstone, that "the greatest charm of woman was to be womanly," a kind and loving mother who could even extend a share of her motherly devotion to the orphan, two of whom bless her for that virtue; a good neighbor, po-essed of a kind and for bearing disposition and mourned by those who were blessed by her acquain tance She suffered with patience for many long weeks and though kind ami loving hands administered to her every wish, yet death the fell destroyer, was welcomed by her as the messenger who would convey her to a heavenly father beyond the skies and to a home not made by hands where she would reap her reward for work well done during her probation here. The burial service wn> conducted by the Rev. W. E. Mat thew sat the M E church in this eityou Saturday at 10:30 a. m. A very touch ing and appropriate sermon was deliver ed from Judges, 5, 2, after which the rear aius were conveyed to the cemetery at Verdurette for interment. Mrs Snyder was born at liubbar*. Trumbull county Ohio, February 22nd 1*2*. and grew to womanhood in the town of her birth. In 1847 she came with her father to Mercvr county 111. and on April Jrd 1S48 she was married to J. M. Snyder. Their union lacked j only 44 days of 52 years. Mr. and M s. j Snyder celebrated iheir golden wedding at this place on July 2nd 1898, the oc casion having been postponed from the anniversary of their wedding on account of unavoidable circumstances. She with her family came to Sherman coun ty in *79 having been preceded here by her husband and Sherman county lias been her borne ever since. Four chil dren were born to this union, two boys and two girls, all of which survive her, also two adopted children, Mr Albert Snyder and Mrs. Clark Allaman, and & number of grand and great grand children and her aged hufband, who will be 75 years of age in April next, are left to mourn her taking away. Thus ends a noble and historic life and one fraught with all the variations of trial anu ttiumph. Her husband being a minister of the gospel and having ser ved three years in the war for the per petuation of our union, was much of the time away from home and the molding of the character of her family was the work of her hand to a large degree. She joined the Methodist church in her teens and was a constant and devout member up to her death lVace be to her ashes. The following verse was with beau tiful floral tributes, placed upon the ca-kutby friends; ‘•Sleep soft beloved!" we sometimes say. But have no tune to eharm away, Sad dreams that through the eyelids creep. But never doleful dream again Shall break her happy slumber when ‘ He riveth his beloved sleep." Fribhds. CARD.
