A new brick school house this
summer will add to the looks of our
little city very materially.
Thirty-six locomotives are now
being build in the United States for
the railroad known as the Uganda
line in Africa.
Andrew Caruigie has declared a
10 per cent increase in the wages of
his 10,000 employes. And the pops
are correspondingly disconsolate. A
raise in wages is another nail in their
wooden overcoat.
The school board are wasting no
time but are working with a will to
complete arrangements us early as
possible and be ub.e to lay the olans
for a new buildiug intelligently be
fore the people. Any instructive
suggestions will be welcomed by
them.
Sherman county has paid off all of
her obligations that she cun get a
bold ot and is offering a two per
cent per annum bonus for tbe length
of time they run for the privelageof
paying others. Very few counties
in tbe slate are in as good condition
as we are.
The United Slates, Great Britain
and Germany have at last agreed up
on a commission to settle the Samoan
question and the distinguished in

Kansas City to Butte, Spokane, Tacoma
and Seattle.
Cars leave Kansas City, Lincoln and
Grand Island every Tuesday and Thurs
day. arriving at Seattle following Fri
day and Sunday. They are upholstered
in rattan. The bed linen and furiii»h
ing are clean and of good quality. The
I heating, ventilating and toilet arrange
ments are all that can be desired and
each car is in charge of a uniformed
Pullman porter, whose sole duty is to
attend to the wants of passeugers.
