Idea prevailed that, the tariff bill would lie held in committee for two days. They soon understood that Senator Jones of Nevada was going to vote with the Republicans and realized that there was no possibility of chang ing the bill. They had no desire to make any factious opposition, and when a motion was made by the Re publicans to report the bill at once the vote was taken promptly.
