If more rncu planted sugar beets it is reasonable to suppose that more sugar beets would be raised. If there were more acres of sugar beets planted, less acres would be planted a to corn, that is certain, If there were less acres p'anted to corn, less corn would be raised. If less corn Was raised, what was raised would vomand higher price. So you see sugar beet culture means not only profit from the beets, but profit from the increased value of other products Can’t you see the point?—York Re publican. Will the Trunstnississippi Expo sition tie a punog in vestment? This question is being nuked by almost everybody, ai d capreinlly b\ mem bers of our legislator. The tidal wave of tnigation which began to turn wcstwaid in the 70s was not. an accident nor was it u natural overflow of people out of thickly settled s’ales. Those who are fa milliar with the fuels know that it was the result of organized afford on the part of the great, railroads which had become possessed of millions of acres of laud, worthless unless it could be brought under cultivation by thrifty settlers. Millions of dollars were expended in advertising homes lor the homeless in Kansas and Nebraska, and later on in the Dakota. Special Excursion trains were run, agents were sent abroad to advertise the truunmississippi country far and wide as “the future great,” and it proved to be a very judicious investment. The Trunsmississippi Exposition is the greatest advertisement, that lias ever been attempted for Nebras. ka, as well us for the .States beyond the Rockies. It is not a visionary sky rocket scheme but a well planned and well matured effort Ur give the wiliest possible publicity to the ad vo iif (i irt>u / I in fhiw 111 c? capitalists ami bomcscckers who have money with wbieh to buy land and engage in industrial enterprises A mode rule estimate, places the number of people who will visit the fair at from ii,000,000 to 3,000,000, The lowest amount which these people will spent at tho exposition is $10 per capita. That means from twenty to thirty millions of dollars of money possing into Nebraska through the gates of the exposition. But $10 each is a very low estimate. Thousands will remain throughout the fair, each of whom will spend from to $i> per day and thousands Upon thousands will pass beyond Omaha to the Rockies and the Pa cific coast. It is safe to compute the fair will bring about the cirsu lation of 100,000,000 lu the trans mississippi country which will be expended for transportation, ia the purchase of supplies and in perma nent investments. Thousands of people who visit the exposition will not stop at Omaha, but, having traveled that far, will venture be yond and take in each parts of the eouatry as afford the most attractive field measured by the exhibits at the fair. What will Nebraska get out of it? First aud foremoat it will bring mil lions of dollars into the metropolis that will be paid out to supply food and driuk for man and beast. Who will feed the multitude? The people of Nebraska. The erection of great buildings and the public improve incuts in Omaha will afford employ ment to thousands ot workiugmeti, aud they iu turn will become profit able consumer* of the products of the farm, orchard aud garden.
