C. U. G'aZ9, of Crawford was a
pleasant caller at this office on last mon-
day, and while here inscribed his name
among our readers, Mr. Glaze Is engaged
in the marble business, any one needing
anything in bis line may rest assured of
receiving fair treatment.
It seemed to us for awhile on last
Monday, as if everyone wbo lived in
Sioux county, that is outside of Harrison
had come to town, so great was the
crowd who were on hand and nearly all
of them eager to secure some of the
school land which was offered fer lease
in the afternoon.
Mrs. Petersen, of Omaha, mother-in-law
of Mrs. August Meier, who has
been a guest at the home of the latter
in the valley during the past three weeks
expect to leave for home tomorrow.
Mrs. Meier, had the misfortune to run a
ttead'e in her foot A couple of m ek ago,
and the doctor has been unable to get it
.out, having made two or three attempts.
Miss Uzzie Dunn, daughter of Mr
Dunn, of Warbonnet, who has been in
Denver for over a year, returned to the
valley a jew days ago to visit her father
and brothers for a week or two. While
in town the young lady did not forget to
call and pav her respects to the Jocrsal
force. Miss Dunn will go from here to
Gleocoa, Wyo., whore she will keep
house for ber brother John.
A son of Pat Lacy, next younger
than John, arrived in Harrison yesterday
on a visit with the Lacy family, and a 15
to look up the country with a view of
locating somewhere near his father and
brothers. Should the country prove
satisfactory to him. he and his family
will in all .probability move to Sioux
county next spring. None of Mr. Lacy'
friends war looking for him and hence
they wer all treated to a pleasant cnr

Mrs. Barton, left Harrison on last
Thursday evecing presumably for Ar-i
kansas, where she has made up her mind
to rusticate in some quite nook among
the "Osarks." !

Harrison Monday, from different parts
of the county for the purpose of leasing
school lands, which took place at the
court house on that date.
Dr. Miller of Alliance, and his son
True, who owns and opperates a stock
ranch in the south-east corner of Sioux
county were in Harrison attending the
leasing of state school Innd Monday.
Mrs. John Dnut, of Stacy, Mont.,
who has been the guest of her parents
Mr. and Mrs. FA Maine of this town
during the summer, returned to her home
on last Thursday evening, her mother
accompanied her as far a Crawford.
Wilbert Shepherd's father and mot

by their son, who conducted them to the
hotel for dinner after which they were
driven Out to Will's Warbonnet ranch
where they will visit with their son and
daughter for three or four weeks.

Breezes From The Valley.
We expected frost last Sunday morn
ing, but have seen none yet.
J. T. Coffee came up from Chodron,
after his horse, returning Sunday.
Messrs. Coffee, Wohlueter and Millsr,
are preparing for the v inters blizzards
by hauling wood.
Ln. Daut and family came over to
Grandpa Zimmerman's Saturday, return
ing Sunday and took Mis Lillie home
with them to begin her school Monday
morning.
The couuty Supt. made us a pleasant
call Monday, enroate for Indian creek to
visit Miss Unw rev's school, then to Mis
Bretty's and back by way of Cotton
wood. Rev. Rice filled his appointment at
Bodarc, SundUy and preached a very ex
cellent sermon io the morning, also held
services in the evening. His next ap
pointment will be Oct 15th, as he preach
es once in four weeks. Mrs. Rice accom
panied him and they returned home

Mis Katie Henry went to Harrison on
Wednesday to take the train for Lusk,
where she will probably remain until the
first of January, - Cuo.
