love to celebrate, it is (a hallowed day the day that commemorate! the

day. We believe it would be the proper (thing to do, if the Declaration, of
liiliiilunre were read in every dwelling houM in the land on that day
above all otljer (lavs except Sundays most dear to the American people.

patriotism wlm-li, being properly defined meane in these United States
fri-e iMid imlepencUmt. liberty loving people. It should also mean fiee
rpttjch; free pres the right to serve God according to the dictates of one's
own cosncienoe ami all otlier pnvilsge and rights that belong to a free
people. But within the post decs all these right have been abridged to a
certain-extent. Thus we believe, there is as much or move need today that
ue ri(f generation of young men and women be taught the true princi
pals of the Declaration of Independence, which has been comraerated year
by year, on every 4th of July since that greatest of declaration of princi
pals wis written by Thomas JefTenoa and promulgated to the world by a
Msoplett that time, fighting and shedding their own prescious blood in or
der thart their posterity should be free and Independent on and on without
end.
On that day every residence in the land should have floating from it or
place of business or both an Amasicaa 'flag.

On lost Tuesday evening, the ladies at the Silver Leaf Chapter, of R.

lmetllfty guests responded to the cordial invitation extended then, an. I
uese met at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. 8mith, on Broad Street by a
delegation from the "camp" and escorted to the Lodge rooms, which had
been umierjfoing a marvelous transformation, and was now changed to a
lniuett hall, Covers wore laid for fifty ,aad after Oracle Bowker's ad
dress of welcome, the guests sat down. The waitresses were commposil
of a bevy of ladies of the camp, all wearing the insignia of their order, the
decoration of the table was in red and yellow, which when Wended with the
deep purple(the color of the camp) made a most striking contrast. The
ladies of the camp were untiring in their attention to their many guests,
ne'er sitting down until the last one had been served. The unique feat
ure of the evening was a voting contest, two priszes were offered, one for
the prettiest lady, and the other for the homeliest man. The cake for
beauty was awarded to Mrs. Kendall, by a majority of two votes over Mrs.
Oriswold, tlm former receiving 23 votes, and the latter 23. And sad to
relate, but never-the-less true, the prize for being the tbomliest man in the
hall, was awarded to the quill pusher of the " JocRnxu The vote on this
stood as follows: 0. D. Canon 17, J. E. Marsteller 1& Rev. Kendall 8,
Delano Sutton 7, thus giving the cake to our own homely self. The next
feature was a cake walk by the ladies of tlie chupter This cake was award
ed to Mr. Ed Maine. After which all took their departure highly delighted
with the evenings entertainment and trusting the Royal Neighbors will
ovite them soon again but not forgetting to express their graduate to their
hostesses.
Valuation of Sioux County Property.
The following table shows statistics that ought to be of in
terest to all people of the county. Cut this out and pre
serve it for reference. The table ia compiled from the
Assessors' books, as corrected and equalized by the Com
missioners. The number of Horses, Cattle and Sheep in
each precinct is also given.

Be it enacted by the LegUUUtwe of tlte State of Wyoming:
Sec. 10. The Board of County Commissioners of each County shall at Uieir
next regular meeting examine the tabulated statement submitted by the county
Treasurer as provided in Section 9 of this act and shall correct and approve the

by Section 10 of Una Act, and not otherwise. Payments from said fund shall
made first to the BUte. Second. To the several Counties interested. Third The
balance remaining In said "The Migratory Stock Fund" after making the payment
hereinbefore provided, shall be covered into the general fund of the County.
Seo, IS. If the owner of any live stock referred to In this Act shall fail, omit
or nesrlet to transmit the notice required by Sections 6 and 7 of this Act or to male
the affidavit required by Sac. 8 of this Act, such owner or agent shall forfeit the
sum f not less than ten nor more than one hundred dollars, to be recovered In
civil action by any person or county officer or Board of County offlosrs inter
anted.
Sec. IS. If any County officer shall fail, neglect omit or refuse to perform
My of the duties imposed upon such officer by the provisions of this Act, such
County officer shall be declared f uilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction
therwo shall be punished by a fine of not leas tlian fifty dollars nor more than Ova
hundred dollars in the discretion.
Sec 14. That chapter seventy-eight of the Session Laws of 1880 and Chapter
61 one of the Session Laws of 18W. Provided however that nothing herein con
tained shall he held to abate or dispose or any suit or proceeding heretofore InUitu
ted in any court under the provisions of any of the foregoing acta.
13. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after Its mease.
