scribe he had sold 9 McEormick mowers
already this season.
Mr. and Mrs. Kirtley of Pleasant
PJdee were in town Tuesday visiting
at Mr. and Mrs. Sutton's and doing some
trading.
Charles Biehle and his son Willie
went to Crawford Tuesday with a load
of wheat, to get the equivalent in flour
at the mill stopping over night and re
turning next day.
Perry, White, John Finley, P. N.
Kirkpatrick and Jo. Varley left for Raw
hide with about 5,000 feet of lumber for
Converse county Wyo., which is to be
used for a bridge.
Jacob Marking was in town from
Montrose and reports small grain in bis
locality all about destroyed by the dry
weather, and what is left is being eut for
fodder. He says corn however looks
fairly well yet

sister to Laney Sutton of this place who
came here a week ago from BoaUand
Tex., via the Trans-Mississippi Exposi
tion at Omaha on a visit left for borne

Irving Gillmore of Glen, came up
with his attorney M. F. Harrington of
O'Neal, who he has employed iu place of

fall term of court at this place.

rushing the building of his new bouse

quent, another strong indication 'of
wedding bells. Remember the Journal
with a smoke and a large piece of wedd

-Mrs. W. LL White of Glen called
at this office yesterday while in town
and left a bright silver dollar in pay
ment of the Journal to be sent to her
husband for the ensuing year saying her
husband was a free silver Republican
and that t bey wanted a frea silver pap
er that was published in the county.
Mrs. Kendall of Ainsworth Neb.,
mother of Rev. J. L. Keadall of this
place arrived here from Chadron over
tb F. E. & M. V. railroad Monday noon
in company with Mrs. J. L. Kendall
where they bad been to attend the funer
al services of her son-in-law and his
brother who were drowned in Lone Tree
creek near that place. Mother Kendall
will stop with her son until annual
conference.
Hon. F. M. Harrington of O'Neal,
was in our city this week consult
ing with attorney Clark one of onr
local attorneys relative to the defensa of
the oaa of Irving Gililmore. Mr. Har
rington is said to ba one of tbe moat pro
minent attorneys in Nebraska and ha,
assisted by Mr. Clark will conduct the
case ia defense of Mr. 3iUinora; Mr. LL
taking tbe place of a A. O. Haher, Mr.
Oillaiore's former attorney which will
doubtless be tried at the September term
of court
Henry Olbrigbt, who want to Big
Muddy Wyo., last Saturday to look
after the busineas affairs of his nephew

9 miles south-east of Harrison Vernard
Burton Uoitt aged 6 month and 33 days.
Funeral aer vires conducted by Rev,
Smith of the M. E. church at Crawford,
were bold at tbe borne of the parents
of the deoaaaed and the remains were
interred in the Harrison cemetery last
Friday afternoon.

Nelse and Andrew Rosenborg of
Ardmore were in town Monday doing
business at the court bouse.
Miss Claude Hester went to Lusk last
week to visit bar sister and husband Mr,
and Mrs. Bonsell, for a month or six
weeks.
James Hogle of Crawford was in
town last Monday looking over the
grounds with a' prospect of starting a
club room.
Landlord Tebbet has painted his
hotel front which gives it an altogether
different appearance. Ed. Bowker is
performing the artistic work.
John Serres of Montrose was in town
getting a bay rake repaired last Monday,
John reports a run-away at his place last
Friday while raking hay, a broken rake
being the result
Capt Fisher of company H, Chadron
Neb., volunteers is now reported to be
under arrest at Chicamauga Ga., for tbe
part be played in tbe private John Maher
court martial proceeding for insubor
dination. Rev. and Mrs. Kendall who were
called to Dakota Junction last week on
account of tbe drowning of a brother-in-law
and his brother in Lone Tree creek
last Friday returned borne Monday
morning. -

The lucky number was 64,470 but it was
not known who held that number
N. L. Tipton, though who was in
town attending the drawing but did not
have his tickets with him thought he
had that number at home but such was
not tbe case.
Dr. M. D. Clark of Edgemont, came
in over the F. E. & M. V. raillroad Mon
Day noon on business connected with

Thomas Bell of Lusk passed through
Harrison yesterday on the passenger
train for his borne; having just returned
from tbe Exposition where he and bis
family started about a month ago but
as his little boy was taken with dip
tberia on the way they were obliged to
stop at Norfolk and obtain skillful treat
ment for the little one and as a result
of the d iseoae Mr. Bell and family were
quarantined for a couple of weeks. He
report th little fellow all out of danger.

Meyer. The young couple are well
known to the people of Montrose, we

M. J. Gayhart returned from Hot
Springs last Saturday where be made a
stay of two weeks on account of the
river being high.
