The Board of county comniissionrrs met io regular session on Tuesday and wilt continue a an equalizing board on the As.sessors returns for two weeks. Superintendent Harris, of the F. E. & 51. V. R.nlroad came in on his private caryesterday and side tracked until even ing while he went out to S3 stock ranch. Have you noticed theget-there-a-tive-ness of our own Fritz Richstein since he has gnt to be head operator for the F. E. & M. V. Railroad? Well he is oue of the boys now. Buff Coffee was a pleasant caller at this oflice Tuesday. Mr. Coffee is an affa ble gentleman to meet and converse with and we are always glad to have him call when in town. Hon. Jnmei. F. Young one of our county commisioners, reports grass as being better this year than for several years, and that more rain has fallen there during the spring than is customary in that locality. M. J. Weber, one of our couDty commissioners returned from Casper, where he has been engaged in the sheep f hearing business, last Friday. lie re ports there is work enough in shearing sheep at Casper for the next four weeks. Mr. Weber is said to be an expert at the business. M. J. Blewett, who was summoned to appear before the federal grand jury at Omaha on ths 7th inst. retnrned last Tuesday. Mr. K. says there has lxen reports made to the grand jury against some of the people io Sioux county for cutting timber on government lands. He did not seem to know who any of the parties were. County commissioner Tinkham crime in from Rprinsr Hill. Wyo., last Monday evening where he has been at work with his partner on a mine since last spring. He reports that they were unable to do anything at their own mine since fhey went back the last time on account of water in the shaft but thinks they " ill be able to commence work ou it when he goes back. Our-town has been assailed by a whole lot of school marms this week. They will no doubt run our quiet little Village to suit themselves for the next six weeks to come, and why not? it is they whose influence will be felt in Sioux county and the great common wealth of Nebraska in the not far off future. It is an honor to have them among us. J. C. Alexander and daughter from over near Bodarc, came in town Tuesday on business and stopped over night with O. W. Patten-cn ar.d family Mr. Alexander condecended to call at the Journal office and chat pleasantly for an hour or so. We are always glad to have our friends come in at any time for a so cial chat, come again when convenient friend Alexander. We only got a glimps of Thos. Bin- gy, who has just returned from a wild goose chase to Edgemont and Ragged Top in the Black Hills country, where he went last spring early, to better his condition as he expected, but he was dis appointed aBd finally turned bickward to the old stamping ground.
