The rules of the local land office have recently been amended so that settlers to make final proof shall settle with the publisher before sending in their applica tion. Bieble and his mother with Mr. and Mrs. Lou.Gerlach took a trip down to Sow Belly canyon, last Sunday. P. B. and E. A. Bigelow and J. C. parsons made final proof on a quarter section of land apiece in Sioux county, last Tuesday before Judge Wilton. Virg. Hester cut his alfalfa Tuesday of this week. Who says they can't raise alfalfa on the divide. Go to Hester's lumber office and see a sample of it. Mills Bros, of Gordon, Neb., passed through Harrison from the west last Fri day with 700 head of cattle. The cattle i. re to go into the sand hills near Gordon. J. H. Cook was up from Running Water last Monday. He took occasion to call at The Journal office and pass the timeof day and get aquainted. Come it gain Mr. Cook. John Pdster of Lusk, Wyo., was in Harrison last Thursday, buying some liarbad wire and doing other trading re turning borne the next day. Mr. Pflster says it pas to come to Harrison to do his trading. Mr. Frank Stratton Mt for Hill City, 8. Dak., Monday evening. Mr. Stratton came down little over a week ago to be in attendance at the marriage of his brother John L. and Miss Jennie Arch erd last Sabbath. Every one should attend the decor ating and memorial services to be held In Harrison, next Sabbath. Mr. Fitzsim mins will shortly take a trip into the Big Horn Basin and do some prospecting in the mountains adjacent to the basin. II. C. Kessler and Geo. Eoslow of Douglas, Wyo.? were in Harrison last Saturday and Sunday with the view of engaging in the saloon business io Harri son, but after looking the town over pretty thoroughly, concluded there was no money in the business here, and Mon day morning returned to Douglas. So it continues to get dryer and dryer. County clerk Blewett had a severe attack of something similar to heart trouble Tuesday morning. Although Mr. B. thinks ii is something else, yet he said it was pretty bad just the same. He was able however, to rescue his duties at the court housd about eleven o clock the same day. I lie chances are that he will be all right in a day or two. Married. At the residence of the groom's mother, Mr. John L. Stratton and Miss Jeunie Archerd, were united io the holy bonds of wedlock at 3:00 o'clock p. m. by B. L. Smuck, J. P. The guesti invited to the marriage feast were: Mr. and Mrs. Priddy, Mr. and Mrs. W. II. L'avis, Mr. and Mrs. David Bart? 1 1 and Mr. Chas. Marsteller and Miss Nellie Harris. Umphenhour our genial con fectioner has sold his candy snap to Mrs. June Smith who lives on the little Bog gy over in the valley, north-east from Harrison about 15 miles. She took charge of the business on the 25th inst. Mr. Umphenhour informed The Jlt'Kkal scribe that the consideration was 300. He will try his hand at farming this season, he having taken the crop of Mrs. Smith's husband as part pay io the deal. R. H. Archerd from Omah. and Sid ney his brother came in last Saturday, overland via Alliance. R. H. Archerd has been a resident of Sioux county for some time until last fall when he went to Iowa and thence to Omaha on busi ness. Mr. Archerd returned in the nick of time to be present at the wedding of his ojdest daughter, Jennie and her fi ance, Mr. John L. Stratton. Mr. Arch erd and his brother will make this their future home. The station agent instructs us to wiy that parents would do well to prohibit their children from getting too near the trains when Uij are coming in and go ing otit at tike depot as the company will not be responsible should any of them git hurt. The above is a timely suggestion, and parents who's children make it a busi ness every time the train comes io, to visit the depot and occasionally climb on and oft the cars when in motion will have a more severe reminder than , tbe above notice if they do not head a time ly warning. We regret to say anything that would in any way seem rude, but the time may coma when parents will thank the company for doing ita daty to the public fcs tbia matter. Elmer Smith is on the sick list again. Mis rii.-le dinger, of Bodure, left for Kansas yesterday evening. Mr. Sherrill return! f.om Iowa yes terday, where he had been to atteud the funeral of mother. Mr. James Wright went out to Mr. Geo. Turner's ranch today to put in a Hum for au irrigation ditch. W. O. Hester, who is engaged in the coal and lumber business in this place, was down in Iowa, some two weks ago, and while there obtained from some of the neighbors in '.lie vicinity an egg which he brought liotne with him and in turn handed to The Journal reporter with the inscription, "Cj clone June Ctk, look out" on it. The letters are quite large ana are easily uissipnereu by any one who can read a little hit. Mr. Hes ter informs us that there was great ex citment over it, believing t!iat the old hen that laid the egg was the means used to warn the eople to be on the lookout fi-r the ex(ected cvclone. The egg is now on exiuition at this oluce, any body wishing to cull and see this queer production of the hennery are iu vittd to oome and see for themselves. Warbonnet Warbllnss. Every one was so busy last week it was impossible to send in an' items from this precinct Ernest Lyon is working for Mr. Rice on Pkasaot Ridge. Lin Ellis has his potatoes all planted. OcarGarton was helping James Mer riam plant beans and corn last Tuesday. Mrs. Lily Williams is slowly recover ing from her late iliness. Mrs. Lie Ellis and Grandma Ellis visit ed with Mrs. Crane last Wednesday. O. A. Garton's had the misfortune to have nineteen chickens killed in one night not long ago by an animal of some kind. Wednesday and Thursday of last week two heavy showers passed over War bonnet, or rather stopped there. Lightning struck at the foot of a tree about twenty rods from Mr. Memam's house. ' O. A. Carton and Willie Gartoo took some cattle up to Irvin Garton's place in the edge of Wyoming Wednesday of last week. Ef.HJ, The Sunday School Convention.
