William Balden 'vho formerly lived
here was reported to have been found in

few moments, and he was followed by
Senator Tefft. The latter simply spoke
of the encouraging outlook for republi

matters. Cady was then introduced and

the best ever made in Harrison. He did
not attempt to display his power of
oratory, ho did not attempt to abuse or
belittle those who differed from him; he
did not attempt to apply the ra.rty lash,
but for nearly two hours he talked to
his audience in a plain, straightforward,

The first quarterly meeting of the
conference year will lie held on Saturday
and Sunday, Oct 10th and 11th. Ser
vices on Saturday afternoon nt 3 o'clock i
and Sunday morning nt 10 o'clock. Pre
siding Vlder Julian will be present and
conduct the services.
Prof. M-irsteller believes in educat
ing the boys' feet as well as their heads,
aod has thrown in with them and pur
chased a football and they have great
times with it. Some of the boys of
larger grow th have not leen able to re
sist the temptation to join the sport and
as a result have a limp in their walk.
It is reported that the parties back
of the case against Frank Harris had
evidence winch they did not wish to di
vulge at the hearing last week. They
certainly should have introduced butll
cient testimony to warrant the court in
holding the defendant to the district
court if they had it. A court cannot
act except on the showing made.
Though Philip Unitt has so many
years been a resident of the United States,
he has never voted nor become a citizen,
always saying that he could live under
such government as his neighbors might
establish. Hut the interest in this year's
campaign has reached him, and ho has
recently taken out naturalization tmpers
saying he fell it his duty to vole for
McKinley and the whole republican tick
et. This is a straw which certainly indi
cates that the wiisl is hi iwing in the
