Bourke Cook ran struck a true M Kin- ley note when he said . , . tst of prosperity absolutely, except the rate of wagBS paid to hiborerh. The pivotal states are all in the west this year, and they will not be pivotal when they come to decide between a fr.e trade and a protection candidate for president. Chicago i.-tfer Ojdutu It is announced that early action will be taken in the matter of notifying Bryan and Watson of their having been nominated by the populist national con vention. The time and place have not ret been selected. The democratic state convention of Wyoming declined a proposition from the populists to fuse. Such actum by various state democratic organizations fro to show that help to elect the Chica go nominee without anyttiing to Im given to the populists in return is the object sought. It does not look at all improbable that Nebraska may furnish a third presiden tial candidate. The sound money democrats hold their convention on the ' "d of S-;pteiiiber and it looks very niucli j :f ,. r,i.. ...;u i, ,.,,.,, ... t i ia u ure nisi. i'i.".fc i.i -.- v. Sterling Morton. Nebraska seems to be ) t-trictly in line for hoiiors in national jiolitics this year. The populist conjrressioaal convention at Craw ford last week was quite an tx- citing affair and considerable bitterness i ... ..! 1 !.,... ,..,, I is lt.poi-.cu 01 nam '"-t:.. -.-...v..!" unionir the asoi rants. The outcome was i tl) nomination of Jnd-i W. L. Green, i of Kearney, which is the last chapter ol the work of the combination made by Gov. llolcomb, Judge Neville, Judge Green and a few others as to the distri bution of nominations. It will be hard work for the supporters of Judge Green to make a fight for their candidate for lie is not just the kind of a man honest advocates of reform would like to go le fore the people with. It is peculiar that the populist party which was or ganized but a few years and was to tie the party of the people, has so soon come to be completely dominated by few schemers who get all the benefits while the people get nit. The third in the list of the proposed amendments to the constitution has for its object the regulation of the compen Kition of .the officers of the executive department of the state government, and n I so to guard against such officials re living any other reward as payment for tin performance of their duties. The rights and interests of the people seem to be well guarded and the proposition seems to be a good. The next proposi tion is to make it possible for the legis lature to create a court, binher than the district court but lower than the su preme court. The ever-increasing num ber of people and business in the state causes a corresponding increase in the amount of litigation, and unless better . court facilities are provided litigants will stand small chance of having their uiU adjudicated during their lives. It seems to be a necssaary provision. The next provides for the rediatrictinr; of the ' eUts for judicial purposes and providing man judges when necessary. Like the , Mbscs it seems to have ampls provision . for th proUclion of the people and hu for its object Lbe advancement of the i sfrtMlr welfare, The s;ei !i .f Brian at M.idivw ' Squaie contain! tit rtwn thouaid i words, tut Dot o-ie of them referred lo ' the nomination by the p. ubsta at Si. !
