Christmas passed very ipiietly in Harrison. The entertainment ft. the church on Tuesday evening was almost exclusively by the little folks, and as a result was interesting. Two trees were loaded with present, the dist rilml ion of hich gladdened iii any hearts. A num ber of private, tf'-es Were lilted op ill tin1 residences of the tow u lor the edi Ileal ion of I he family, and small dinner parties were numerous. Taken as a wind'! it was a pleasant holiday. In another column appear a call for a nn-etiiig of the stm k ow iters of Sioux count v to meet in Harrison to further perfect an organiz.it ion to protect Ihetr interests. Kuslh-rsand wolves are mak ing lnav inroads into their le-nU and in t hu effort to check it every holiest man who has the welfare of the county at heart should lend whatever ir aid h! i-nn. It is to the interest, of every taxpayer of the county lhat rustling Is: slo n d be fore a killing grows out of it and the county has an expensive trial to pay for. Till: Jot'KN'AI, received a letter the lirst ol the week from (). J. (i.iwey nd also samples of line dried fruits grown where thev lire located. Hay is from ifa to flO a ton und oilier things nlxiut the same us here. Horses have no value lit nil, a sound, young horse would not. sell for $1-), mid half that price in trade. He says fcioux county is the best stock country he ever saw und he has traveled a good deal. He and his family are well and while nothing is said of returning he does not think they are ns rich us they would liave been had they remain ed litre. Several stock ow ners reiKirt the loss of cattle recently and attribute it to rustlers, TilK JiiCRNAL liojien that they ore mistaken for the l n r are owm-n of small lienls and not cattle barons, and if rustling is persisted in Rome one will get into troublrt and tlio taxpayers of the county will have to pay a bitf bill of costs. It is the general sentiment in the county that the exiense of no more fan es should lie put upon the county, but it is also the iwntiment of all honest jieople that a stop should lie put to tat tle stealing. There are many who did not nay anything against preying upon stock belonging to outside owners which had drifted in here, but to take stock be longing to the owner of a small herd and who lives in the county, puts thu matter in quite a different light.
