wheal crop is in danger of partial de
struction by gopher and squirrels. For
e-veral days wheat buyers have been
receiving advices that for five or eix day
lime animals have ben appearing in
large numbers in the Big Baud and
Peruse districts. In some instances
not leas than 10 to 20 par cent of the
large fielda of grain baa already been de
vastated. Arsenic is being spread over
the fields mixed with grain and is kill
ing large number of the rodents. Ii
the devastation continues it is estimated
that not lees than 1,000,000 bushels or
grain will be destroyed.
