missioner expired, and lie was succeeded
by John A. Green. On the lltlt Unrke's
term also expired and Charles U. Grove
was appointed to succeed him. On the
loth, the new board declared the oilice 01
(unity attorney vacant, alU'K'iii; that
Hull's appointment was illegal liecaii.se
it had never been written out by the
board of county commissioners and filed
with the county clerk. Weir, the snr
vivinir member of the old lmard, opposed
this action. Gcort-e Walker Was then
ipboitited county attorney nnd litis ever
mnce officiated us such. Hull brought
suit to determine whether he or Walker
wan the leg-ally appointed county attor
ney, and tiio supreme court's decision is
unqualifiedly in his favor; , It holds that
he was legally apmiinted, as in the first
place the special law relating to the ap
pointment or county attorneys does not
require the appointment to be written
and it such a proceedings were necessary
the amiroval of the county clerk's writ

clares that at the time Walker was ap
pointed there was no legal vacancy. Tlie,
relator, Hull, is therefore entitled to the
ofllce and judgment of ouster will issue
against Walker.
thus the long contest over the matter
of tlie county attorneyship is ended, and
Mr. Hull will till the position the rest, 01
the term. The next question to be set
tled will be that of the salary. The
commissioners allowed Mr. Wulker's bill
and Mr. Hull appealed it to the district
court, but later, as stated in our last
issue, with drew the action and requested.
that the warrant be delivered to Mr.
Walker, which was done, and whether
Mr. Hull can now recover from Mr.
Walker after withdrawing the suit, w
a question.

It is reported on good authority that

El. 1 Heath, the republican nominee
for representative from this district, is
here looking after his political interests.
He is r pie jint gentleman, a practical,
active far.ner and a man highly respect
ed by those who know him. lie would
represent the interests of the farmers in
the legislature in good shape.
The gang organ of last week contains
another long article from the sage of
White River, better known as Dan Klein
in which liar and other strong argu
ments appear, and the statement that
the correspondent of this paper dare not
sign his name for fear of being called up
on to defend himself in a criminal libel
suit. We will say for the information
of Mr. Klein that if he wants to begin
action for criminal libel on the grounds
of what is published in The Journal the
fact of it Isiing signed by a non de plume
does not hinder him from so doing. Just
jump on the editor if you feel so dispos
ed. The gang to which Mr. Klein be
longs worked the criminal libel racket
pretty hard two years ngo for a short
time prior to election and perhaps they
intend to try the same racket again.
We are informed that Mr. Klein intends
leaving the country in the near futuse,
and he prolwbly wants to get all the no
toriety he can Wore he goes.
"We want every mother to know that
croup can be prevented. True croup
never appears without a warning. The
first symtotn is hoarseness; then thechfTd
appears to have taken cold or a cold may
have accompanied the hoarseness from
the start. After that a ioculiar rough
cough is developed, which is followed by
tlie croun. The t ime to act is when the
child first lwcuui'is hoarse; a few doses of
Chamberlain's Cough Remedy will pre
vent the attack. Even after the rough
couich has appeared, the disense may lm
prevented by using this remedy as di
