A few days ago, the Ranch Supply
House received an invoice of oatmeal,
rolled rye anil flaked hominy from the
Reward Oatmeal Mills, and in the lot
were lilierul samples of rolled rye and
flaked hominy for the editor of The
Jot'RNAL with the compliments of Walk
er Bros. & Co., proprietors of the mills.
Both of the above are new preparation
and on trying tliem were found to lie ex
cellent food, and like the oatmeal from
that establishment, are of excellent
quality, A trial of rolled rye or flaked
hominy will demonstrate the line qual
ities they possess.
Davis At the family residence south
east of Harrison, Neb., on Saturday,
October 4, 1WM), Clarissa, infant
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A sit C.
L'avis, aged 2 tionths and 19 days.
The bereaved parents have the sym
pathy of all in their affliction. The lit
tle one had been nick a few days, the
disease being inflamation of the bowels,
and although all was done that could he,
death marked her for his own and early
Saturday morning she passed away. The
funeral occurred from the resilience at
4 o'clock Saturday afternoon, the ser
vices being conducted by Rev. Rorick,
Card of Thank.

require the appointment to be written
and it such a proceedings were necessary

clares that at the time Walker was ap
pointed there was no legal vacancy. Tlie,
relator, Hull, is therefore entitled to the
ofllce and judgment of ouster will issue
thus the long contest over the matter

commissioners allowed Mr. Wulker's bill
and Mr. Hull appealed it to the district

ested in the prosperity of the county
who will give it the best service and if
the people ot Sioux county wnnt tins
public affairs well looked after they will

John Messing came up from Chadron
N. L. Pollard left W'ednesday evening
to visit his home in Cass county.
Mrs. B. B. Bixby left Monday for
Iowa where she will sa?nd the winter.

Mrs. B. Wolfe and children, who have

part of this state.

for representative from this district, is
here looking after his political interests.
He is r pie jint gentleman, a practical,
active far.ner and a man highly respect
ed by those who know him. lie would
represent the interests of the farmers in
the legislature in good shape.
The gang organ of last week contains
another long article from the sage of
White River, better known as Dan Klein
in which liar and other strong argu
ments appear, and the statement that
the correspondent of this paper dare not
sign his name for fear of being called up
on to defend himself in a criminal libel
suit. We will say for the information
of Mr. Klein that if he wants to begin
action for criminal libel on the grounds
of what is published in The Journal the
fact of it Isiing signed by a non de plume
does not hinder him from so doing. Just
jump on the editor if you feel so dispos
ed. The gang to which Mr. Klein be
longs worked the criminal libel racket
pretty hard two years ngo for a short
time prior to election and perhaps they
intend to try the same racket again.
We are informed that Mr. Klein intends
leaving the country in the near futuse,
and he prolwbly wants to get all the no
toriety he can Wore he goes.
