END OF A DIVORCE STATE.

There will be no more nlnetj-day di
vorce, in North Dakota after July I,
North Dakota will have but a few ad
vantage over other suites when trie
law takes effect, for there are several
place where divorce laws are pliable
after one year's residence, says the
Denver Post. The amended law hat
been discussed for years by the
"church and temperance" people, who
have argued that the divorce-whllo-you-wa.lt
law waa calculated to give a
wrong lmprshm of the common
wealth. They have now obtained a
new law Just aa they obtained prohi

door la left open for easy awe and

about 12,500,000 Iwto the state every
year, while It only exports contented
and heart-whole "residents." The
wheat farmers cf the legislature bad

question and threw out the year's resi
dence as g sop to the moral enthu

and business men generally, all of
whom appreciate that the divorce

sympathetic toward litigants In the u.

as any action on the part of the hus
band or wife that cause the other
mental suffering. Over fiine-tntb of
the Dakota divorce have been granted
on charges of cruelty and dertbm,
the former charge predominating. This
new Jaw will be convenient In one
wy, for there must be desertion of a
year, and while obtaining s reel dene
the charge can now be secured. In
North Dakota no place amounts to
