A special to the Capital from Maple Hill states that Edwin Franscen aud Qua Carbon, employes at Fowler's ranch, two miles west of that city, were fatally shot last evening by John Thomas, a for mer employe at the ranch. Secretary Alger has directed that the ten Span ish officers and the ten privates and non-commissioned officers taken from the Spanish steamer Argonauts, and now at Key West, be taken to Fort McTherson, just outside of Atlanta, Ga, for confinement until they are either txebanged for any American oflioers and sailors w ho may be taken by the Spaniards, or until some meth od for their disposition is reached.
