Appalling New to Hand From thelnmir rectioe In the 1'hiUlpine Islands. Madrid, September 25. A dispatch to the Imperial from Hong Kong says teamen which have arrived there from Manilla, the capital of the Phi lippine Wands, bring the announce ment that Cavlle Is occupied by 15 000 insurgents. Over one hundred monks have been murdered on the island since the breaking out of the insurrection Man victims have been fastened to trees, their clothing soaked with kero sene oil and ignited, and the victims burned to death. Rich natives are being- arrested dally. Documents have been telzed by the authorities In which are given the names of the president ' bod various other ifllclals of the pro posed republic What Hill the A. P. A. Pol What will the A. P. A. do? is a con stant inquiry of us. Except for the benefit of sympathizers and thousands of readers who are not A. P. As. who desire to vote only for true American candidates, we would have no occasion to reply to these multiplying inquiries, but for their benefit and our mutual good, we can say that we believe very few, It any, A. P. A. votes ill be cast for any other presidential candidate than Win. McKlnley. And yet no paper, or other authority, can speak for any A. P. A. as to how be will vote. The order stands a guarantoe to Its members that they shall have a free ballot and a fair count, in every par ticular, except to knowingly favor Ro man Catholicism, which is the world wide recognized enemy of civil and re ligious liberty. There is an unmistakable rallying line-up under McKlnley for American Ism, In all that is meant by sustaining our existing conditions of government, and as definite a line-up under Bryan for all that oppose our present institu tions, which will culminate alone In the claims and alms o! Roman Cath olicism. This article is based upon lnforma tlon from the most reliable sources, and letters from the most impartial and non-partisan prominent men in the na tion, and therefore its suggestions are worthy, of your kind consideration. . Freedom's Banner. Llnton's Advice. OA' few days ago I was in ChIcago, and accidentally met Hon. W. S. Linton. I asked him to go with me to my room at the hotel. When we were seated there I told him of my doubts and per plexities, of my earnest desire to vote wisely and right not as a partisan, but as one whose first wish Is for the welfare of the country and then I said: "Now, Mr. Linton, forgetting all partisan prejudice, forgetting that there are such things as parties, and remembering only that we are Ameri cans who are striving to be worthy of that title, how do you advise me and the thousands of perplexed and puzzled members of our order to vote in the ap proaching election?" I give his reply in his own words: "Without party p ejudlce and in behalf of true Ameri canism, I earnestly advlue and request all my friends and those asking for In foi matlon to vote for Msjor McKlnley." Mr. Linton's words have weight with me, and I believe they will aid many, who, like myeolf, have been perplexed, to como to a decision regarding tholr duty this fall. Mr. Linton has been tried, and always found true to our cause. He has never feared to jeak the truth concerning our w "r never been guided by t in policy and duty seemid to conflict. I have confidence In htm, and when his testimony was added to that I had al ready received, I felt forced to abandon the position I had been occupying. I shall vote and work for Wm. McKlnley. A. 0. Here is how one of these lie was nailed by one of their own pupal bishops, in the Church Times, of Liverpool, England: "The -Right Rev. Dr. Northrop, bishop of Charleston, S. C, U. S. A., reoently Informed a correspondent of the Catholic Timt that, in his opinion, there Is no truth whatever In the sen sational accounts about devil-worship in a magnificent Masonic Temple in Charleston, Bishop Northrup has lived fifty year in Charleston, la personally acquainted with all the leading Free masons there, and has been In the Ma sonic Hall, which in no particular answers to the description published in numbers of newspapers. His lordship considers that Catholics, who are them selves the victims of so many calumnies, should be especially careful tot to spread falsehood about others, and gave our correspondent, who Is in Liverpool, permission to publish what he said. Mgr. Qilgley, the vicar- goneral of the diocese, also expressed his complete disbelief of the stories about devil-worship, in so far Charleston is concerned." ' The American until election day for 10 cento. Cash with the order. K , Four Orders. There are four orders of Jesuits throughout the world. Of the first order are ecclesiastics, whose office it Is to take care of things promoting re ligion. Of the tocond order are poll tlclans, whose ffloe it Is, by any means, to shake, trouble, or reform the state of kingdoms and republics. Of the third order are seculars, whose pro vince It is to Intrude themselves into offices with kings and princes, to insin uate and Intermix themselves in court business, bargains and sales, and to be busted in civil affairs. Of the fourth order are intelligencers of spies men of inferior condition, who submit them selves to the services of great men, princes, barons, noblemen, citizens, to deceive and corrupt the minds of their masters.
