Kankakee, 111 , July 27. The ao nual pilgrimage to the (brine of St Anne, la the village of that name, ia this county, took place to-day. Fif- Wn hundred people came from Chi cago on an excursion given under the auspices of the Church of Notre Dame. Several hundred from this city at tended the celebration of the feast to day. St. Anne ia the patron saint of the sick, the helpless and the crippled. The church, or more properly speak ing, the cathedral, of St. Anne de Ueaupre is located twenty miles from Quebec, and is an edifice of great age. Tbouraod of pilgrims visit this shrine of the alnt annually, and many mirac ulous cures are reported. A portion of the church Is plied high with the crutches of those who claim their faith and devotion have made them whole. What the church of St. Anne de ISeuupre Is to Canadians the shrine of the mother of Virgin Mary at the uualnt little village of St. Anne is to the p ao pie of this tection of the state. Father Bergeron of Notre Dame, Chi cago, Instituted tbe pilgrimage of bt. Anne eight years ago. Originally confined to the parish of Notre Dame, every parish in Chicago, regard les 4 of nationality, now sends its contingents. The number of pilgrim, especially from Chicago, is increasing every year. A small piece of tbe wrist-bone of the saint, taken from tho larger relic at the Quebec cathedral, Is at St. Anne. The excursion from Chicago arrived at 10 o'clock this morning. A proces sion was formed of the various societies and pilgrims from the depot to the church. High mass was sung, and there was preaching in French and English. Father Berard of St. Anne was the principal speaker. An important fea ture was the veneration of the relic. The multitude was fed in a grove be- longing to the church. The relic of St. Anne is regarded with much ven eration in this vicinity. Many won' derful cures of epilepsy are recorded. The Law and Order League and the Impartial (?) police force of this city prevented the delivering of a patriotic isrmon on January 5th, maintaining that it was a violation of law to open a licensed house on the Sabbath day, Two weeks previous the Leland was used by the ''Sisters" of the Dominican Convent with ao admission fee of fifty cents. This was lawful. Rome has always used it on Sunday without it being considered unlawful. Now she is allowed to have LIVING PICTURES. Gentle men: I desire to say to all who feel the strength of their manhood slowly slip ping away, whose ambition Is at its lowest ebb, whose mind is beclouded, and the senses dulled, when you feel dyspeptic, and lose your self-respect, that your blood is out of order, and all you need Is some of Howard's Vegetone Blood Powder to tone up your system. It will act almost instantly upon the blood; you will feel the renewed life and vigor coursing through your sys tem; you will feel the old-time grip in your hands; your mind will be as active as ever; your friends will observe the flag of health flying in your face, and you will feel like a new being. I have not felt so well for five years as I do since taking one package of your Blood Powder, and I feel as strong and active as ever. I weigh IS pounds more tnan ever in my life. The change is so marked that it is the subject of com ment when meeting my friends. I recommend Howard's Vegetone Blood Powder to be, as I believe, the greatest blood-purifier on earth. C. A. Potter.
