The Motor Carriage In the Tropica.
The automobile cirrlage has already
been found well adapted for use In hot
climates, where horses sometimes suf
fer greatly from exhaustion from heat.
The first Journey In India on a petrole
um carriage has Just been made by an
English army officer. The vehicle con
lists of a four-wheeled dog cart, with
accomodation for four persons and two
portmanteaux. It travels at a speed of
from fifteen to twenty miles an hour,
and the cost of petroleum consumed Is
lo per hour. There la no smoke, heat
or smell, and the carriage runs smooth
ly and without oscillation. Steering
apparatus Is provided and the brake
power allows of stoppage within the
distance of a yard. There was great
excitement among the natives. The
Indian coolie has hardly yet become ao
customed to the sight of a bicycle, but
hen the dog cart was seen dashing
alos; without any signs ot motive
power, and the occupants were sitting
quietly at their ease, he was convinced

Milk Famine In Pennsylvania.
A milk famine now threatens the
northern portion of Pennsylvania.
Grasshoppers are e' ng up the cows'

up the cows. The milk producers of
Greenfield township are unable to get

this time of the year. A milk and
cream dealer drove thirty miles and,
outside of those with whom he has con
tracts, he could not get a pint of cream,

ready gone to feeding grain, and that

culturist named Morgan, In the Welsh
