It li an undeniable fact tlint tho HouiAti Catholic are funtiln-K werel and military companies under Hmi name of 1111 rnlan, St. I'nU lokV Cadets, St, Patrick's Mutual Alliance, Knltrhtw of si, IVtrr, Knlirht of Col timbkill, Tin' Sacred Henri, etc. Those HiK-ii t wK'ictii'ii are not only drilled, hut they are well armed, wmio of thorn with arms bought hy them hcIvom: some pol from tho governors, who bought their witos under 'that condition. They parade your streets several times a your under the name and mask of United Stales militia. Third. I have boon a priest of Uoine twenty-five, years, and have been a citizen of the United States since isr.0. During that time I have lectured In more than HOO of your largest cities, towns and villages, and I have hud many opportunities of becoming ac quainted with the undeniable facts which I proclaim here, though they are kept under the most sacred secrecy by tho Roman Catholics. Fourth. Before many years your country will bo drenched with the blood shed by these secret Roman Catholic societies, armed with the best modern weapons, forming an army already of more than a half mil lion of men. Fifth. To prove that there is no danger, you tell us that the Roman Catholics are not insane. Surely tho Roman Catholics are not insane when they .take possession of New York, Boston, Washington, St. Paul, St. Louis, Cincinnati, New Or leans, Mobile, San Francisco; Chicago, etc.. etc., and drive uway almost all the Protestants from the positions of honor, power, trust ' d money. Sixth. You aro right to tull us that the Roman Catholics are not wnam when, with their marvelous, myster ious, diabolical deceptions, they per suade every year more than ton thousand (10,00(1!) of tho best protest ant families to entrust the education of more than 10,0(l( young Protestant ladies to tho nuns of tho pope, who soon make them papists, and then get, their millions of dollars for tho holy (?) church. Seventh. Evidently they are not insane, those Roman Catholics, who so completely blinded our last honest president, Harrison, and his late secre tary, Hlaine, that they forgot the honesty, ability and patriotism of their fj0,0IM),UK) of Protestant countrymen to put over t heir heads an F-gun, whom they sent to Chili us tho best represen tative of tho United States. Eighth. You are perfectly correct when you tell us that tho Roman Catholics aro not insane when, being ordered by their church to destroy tho great principle of liberty, equity, tolerance, self respect and patriotism, which are melting Romanism as the rays of the sun melt tho snow and ice, they so obstinately and sternly aim at destroying your schools where your young men learn those great prlncl pies of liberty, equity, tolerance and self respect which aro tho death knell of Romanism in tho United States if they stand. i inth. It is evident to every one of ' your readers that tho Roman Catholics aro not insane when, not being more than the eighth part of tho population, they not only rulo your press, com mand your armies, man your navy, but thoy are forcing you to yield, yield, yield, day after day, till very soon the American Protestants will have to take tho baikir round everywhere, and let tho Roman Catholics rulo this country for tho bonelit of tho pope. Tenth. But those Roman Catholics who are not insano know very well that thera aro many Protestant Amort cans who think that tho time has come to put a stop to those concessions, privilege nd yioldings In favor of Rome if they do not want to become as strangers In their own country. The order has come from Homo to sharpen tho swords and the bayonets to prepare tho powder and bullets, In order to get rid of those who will refuse to bo ruled by th'd priests, tho bishops and the cardinals of tho holy church. When you say to Protestants, "There is no danger," you must have forgotten that the Jure Canon in suys, positively: "It is not asln or a murder for a Cath olic to kill a Protestant." You must also have forgotten the declaration of St. Thomas, who has lately been put anion? tho Doctors of tho Church of Rome, and whose works have been aj proved by all the popes, and by Pius IX in particular. These are his words I. . ir. I ! ti i 1 1," 1, i K. ,'.!i. ! l: li ii n, 1(l t. ii. 1 1 . n 4 t.. I ti t- Vll.-ei'liiHi.-ii 11 !),. ' s. ki . . .! I I v.. , . 1 I I 1 V 1 i .!, ii I.- I. S i , l. How were these prophets answered Just w:th the very words you iimi to day: "There is no danger.'' "The Southern men are not inline." "We aro two Northern men against one in tho south!" And those who saw and foretold the impending danger then were relinked and called fanatics. They were ac cused of spreading false alarm they were even driven away from their towns and cities; more than that a good number of them were stoned, and even put to death as fanatics and dis turbers of the peace. The ministers of the gospel were the most in earnest in those days, as they are, unfortunately, today, crying peace! peace! and put tho people to sleep till the echoes of tho land reverberated tho booming of the cannon of Sumpter. You know the rest. You cannot have forgotten that the 3d of December, 1803, the mask fell from the Church of Rome, and the whole country saw that the pope, with his bishops and priests (very few ex cepted), were on the side of Jeff Davis and the traitors, to raise tho banners of slavery on the mangled bodies of tho soldiers of liberty in the United States. Well, my dear sir, that pope and his churches proclaim themselves infalli ble beings; they cannot change! As they were then the implacable tho bloody enemies of all your great and glorious principles of liberty, equity, honesty, so they are today. Just as tho pope and his bishops molted the bells of their churches, to turn them into cannon to slaughter your brothers and your friends on tho bloody fields of Bull Run, Fred ricks- burg, etc., so today .they are preparing tho weapons with which to try again to bury tho flag of liberty under tho mangled bodies of those who have sworn to die before they see their fair and noble country ruled by tho pope, Yours truly, C. CmNKjuy. llrclhrcn, Think Again. We quite agreo with our friends of Masonic Homo Journal in tho warning against the "hit back" principle re specting Roman Catholic attacks: "That tho Catholic church is the foo of Masonry is true, but it does not follow that Masonry is tho foe of the Catholic church." Tho Mullet says: "Masterly inactivity is Masonry's best policy in this connection, Rome's senseless fill mlnations never make anybody ono penny tho worse, and life is too short to war in return," Amen! "If the pope en joys his anathemas ugalnst Masonry let them enjoy them all alone. Ho does not hurt Masonry, and why do. privehim of his imagined luxury?'' JV. )' linja(rh, Brethren, you are all wrong. Proof First, Masonry is tho foo of suierstl tion, intolerance, and oppression. Freemasonry is tho apostle of civil and religious liberty, and tho blood of Free masons has again and again glorified and sanctified the implements of tor ture, tho scaffold, and tho stake of tho papacy and the inquisition. Masonry is not a passive, non-resistant peace society. Masonry is patriotism. We are to not only war against vice and all wrong, but wherever a Masonic altar Is set up, and our Croat Light Is placed upon it, wo there declare that it shall be a bulwark for the rights of son science. Second, Tho declaration that "Rome's senseless fulmlnatlons never made anybody one penny the worse," was made by a person Ignorant of his. tory Masonic and profane or else oni who has been fed with tho bread of Jesuitism until his head is turned. None of tho pages of tho hUtory of the world aro more full of (rightful crimes and monstrous acts of cruel ou tragi than those of the papacy of Romi Third, Tho llnal statement after tin "Amen" of Bro. Duncan is best replied to in tho words of the lamented Albert Pike, namely, "lis (Masonry's) com plaeent sense of security may bo rudely disturbed by and by, It seems to mi that an organized crusado against it by all the Roman Catholics in tile United States, an anti-Masonic movement organized and directed by the papacy and engineered by priests, bishops and cardinals, is not a thing to be made light of by tho American Masonry treated with indifference, and regarded ((.!!!( t (..' )' j II . ... lit I i" , l . t .1 '. . 1 i..i I - .1 ' I (-ii S i r.'.l i I . i. i. i i ii i Hi IV. ) j, HHll I ! ; t ' Clism.t! , tn i ii.iii.i I tii- H1' it 1'' i :, t. m. l.i to H'l I 1 . i..l ti.il :i(e ! i t Hut i ki 1'iv unit tumuli r Tin' Iv.M U In iii ?i ii- f.nk.t in 1ti if ti a! iti'ill iii I1llll.lt t , HI") 111" l ! iiit tniii'isl lui ihi-m I tti' i , . i . t . .i i .. i i. .
