The Itailroad Circular.
(The CliH.lron Signal.)
The final stroke of the state cam-
paign by the railroads of Nebraska was
held back until the day before election
when the following circular was sent
to every railroad center in the state.
The copy now in possession of the Sig-
gao-e room in Chadron the evening be-(cLelection.
The object in holding back this cir
'V'n'was to reaca tne railroad em
ployees the very last minute before
they voted and at the same time pre
vent its being circulated among the
farmers where it would instantly be
trav its origin and unite them in opposition.

(Ii DIDACY. Under these circumstances it
is highly important that every em
ploye should use his influence in all
honorable ways, among his friends and
acquaintances, to secure votes for all
candidates who have expressed them
selves as being favorable to our in
terests. It is a well known fact that if
the populist partys hould obtain power,
we as aclass, together with cur families,
must suffer financial loss both by re
duction of wagej and want of employ
ment. This is no mere theory; every think
ing employee knows that such a result
would be inevitable. We should in
self protection, do everything in cur
power which, as good citizens of the
state, we can do, lo prevent such policy
from b'ing carried out.
No candidate who subscribes to such
doctrine, and agrees if elected to help
carry it out should receive the vote of
a single employe, if he is true to his
home and his family. From bitter ex
perience we 'know that sentiment does
not purchase the necessities of life: and
if by our votes the sources of our living
is weakened or destroyed by vicious
legislation, we have ourselves wholly
to blame. It lies within our power, by
standing together upon the common
platform of ''self protection." to pre
serve our living, and harm no single
class. Your committee has sounded
the alarm; you must now work at the
polls. Fraternally yours.

Advancing Fast Knough.
With all the winds blowing our way,
the people's party is coming into
complete power as fast as its
true friends should desire. It is a
normal, substantial, intelligent growth
which we want. A mush-room party
is not the kind needed to taVe control
of our great 6tate and nation. Xhe
principles of our party are national
principles and we can do but little in
the way of reform legislation until our
cause has advanced farther in many
other states. It is not slate laws regu
lating money, transportation and land
that we need, but national laws. We
are strong enough in this and many
other states to prevent any las from
being passed which conflict with our
principles. Cedar Rapids Republican.
"Our Italy,"
So Charles Dudley Warner happily
terms California, and for a winter re
sort that glorious state is without a
peer. The dry pure air, soft and balmy,
is a joy for the strong man and a
wonderful strengthener for the weak
and suffering. The arrangements for
this fall and winter tour, via Union
Pacific and Southern Pacific systems,
aro perfect, the journey being made
with the greatest ease and comfort.
