Dawson County Picnic.
Tho independents of Dawson county
'. propose to hold a general rally and
picnic on the fair grounds at Lexington
on September 13. Kcm will address
he people. W. L. Green is also ex;
pected to be present.
Grand Rally At Oakdale.
- Tho independents of Antelope and
Holt counties will hold one of the
greatest rallies of the campaign near
Oakdale on Sep'embjr 10 There will
be a picnic dinner, speaking, music,
etc. Poynter. Wolf. Shrader, and
others will speak, and perhaps General
Van Wyck will be secured.
Wright in Franklin-
II n. W. F. Wright held a series of
t-ix meetings in Franklin county last
week. The meetings were held at
Franklin, Bloomington, Moline, Hil
dreth, Upland and Macon.
All were crood meetings and well at
tended. The farmers left their work
and turned out to the day meetings.
He say tho independents will carry
Franklin county by 500 majority.
In Northwest Nebraska.
The independents of the Fourteenth
senatorial district, comprising all of
northwest Nebraska, have nominated
H. G. Stewart for state senator. Mr.
Stewart made the race two years ago,
and came very near succeeding. In
fact his friends claim he was elected.
They instituted a contest, but the last
senate was too busy nursing its own
cmbirrassment to give the case a hear
ing. Mr. Stewart is a man of a great
deal of ability, a born radical and a
fighter; and will doubtless be elected

the Fifty third district met at Rush
ville on the same date, and nominated
J. D. Wood of Sheridan county for
. representative.
Holt Independents
Holt county's people party conven
tion met in O'Neill on the 2.3rd and
nominated II. R. Henry and G. E.
Smith for representatives and H. E.
Murphy for county attorney.
Mr. Henry was a member of the last
legislature. Mr. Smiti is a farmer
living near Ewing. Both are strong
men and will surelv bo elected. The
convention was large and enthusiastic
and vcrv harmonious. Strong resolu
tions endorsing Hon. O. M. Kern and
supporting the board of supervisors in
their attempt to DreaK up tne corrupt,
ring management of county affairs were
adopted.

Our county central committee is now
making arrangements for one of the
biggest rallies of the season, to be held
near this city on September 21, 22 and
23. Although the place is not defi
nitely fixed upon, there is reason to
believe th at the citizens of Fairbury
will assist us in preparing for it. We
have already secured Hon. E. H. Gil
lette of Iowa, partner of General Wea
ver, and aro corresponding with
a number of others. Mr. Gillette
is conferring with the Iowa state com
mitteo in regard to having General
Weaver with us; he also te'ls us that
beyond a doubt we shall have Judge C.
C. Colo to address us one of the days.
We wish to have all our state candi
did ites here; also the congressional and
county candidates from the neighbor
ing counties. There is no doubt but we
shall have ary where from ten to twenty
thousand people here during the three
days. Every preparation wi'l be made
for entertaining visitors from abroad.
