Editor Alliance: The county Al
liance met iu regular teuton last Satur
day, but very unexpectedly to many,
when the time came (or the meeting to
open, Hon. O. M. Kern, congrcKsmau
elect from the 84 district, appeared in
company with other. The programme
wai changed to auit the new state of af
fair, and the meeting wa declared to
be an open session to accomodate towns
people and others not members of the
Alliance.
It was a surprise to Bro. Kern as well
as others. He had not the least Idea
that he would be called on to make a
speech, and further was not aware of
iU being the day the county Alliauce
held their meeting. He spoke for over
an hour and a half on the political sit
uation of the day, of the great combina
tion that would likely appear at the fall
election, of the money power against
the people, and that the machinery was
already at wark prepariug for the great
conlllct of M.
What a glorious jubilee the people of
Nebraska will have when they will have
the opportunity of electing six represent
atives Instead of three, all built after
the same pattern of O. M. Kein.
The audience was then dismissed and
the Alliance was couducted lu secret
onion. A nortion of time was occu
pied in selecting a delegate to attend the
Cincinnati! coalertnce, wnicn resuuea
in the election of Bro. II. U. UnUn, his
expenses being borne by the county Al
liance. The next move was to make
arrangements for celebrating the 4th of
, July. We concluded the old parties had
controled this part of the people's busi
ness about long enough. We now pro
posed that the people should rule and
lead in this matter and not the minister
ial agents of the money power. The
business is now in charge of the Inde
pendents, and the day will be celebrated
as it was in 1776 before parties existed.
A committeeman from each Sub-Alliance
In the county will meet in three weeks
to make all necessary arrangements for
the day. We want the best speaker the
country affords to preach to us gospel
truths of pure government. .
Let every county in the state do like
w he and the battle is half fought for
county electing this fall. Many are
feint-hearted and do not know how to
act or cast their ballots but after see
ing the determination of the people,
massing themselves together by thou
sands in one commou cau.se, battling
forUod and humanity, they will no long
er doubt but cast their ballots on the
